naked hot tub pic of the newborns ...

kudos again to Opie Yutts, for pointing me to bubblers ... 13 seeds, 3 varieties, dropped DRY into RapidRooters, and all 13 are above the surface by the 4th day ... built this thing for cloning, and accidentally found out they are great for starting seeds, too ... (I always overwater seeds and kill them, I cant seem to screw up these RapidRooters ) ... 7-day old newborns in the pic: 1-3 = Motarebel's Killa Queen 2006, 4-9 = NorCal Daddy's Girl, 10-13 = Alien Seeds' Sour Jack ... ... yes, they all look the same at this age

Day 13 ... a little 'spotting'

good growth is evident in just the past 48 hours, but also, a bit of 'spotting' has occurred, on a couple of them ... probably either a minor calcium deficiency (so, I added CalMag+), or, could just be from some sloppy foliar feeding I did (didnt have the doohickey on 'spray', had it on 'squirt' ,,, good grief ) ... regardless, it's a weed, they'll be fine ... she should just be grateful to not be outside, in the clutches of that cruel bitch, Mother Nature

my little 'clone cabinet' uses a big 85-watt CFL, blue spectrum ... then, they will go into my 'grow cabinet', 400-watt high pressure lamps ... would love to have a couple 1000-watters, but my present electrical situation, precludes larger lamps

upon closer inspection, I see that 'spotting' is only on the four Sour Jacks ... the Killa Queens and NCDG are fine ... well, they got some CalMag+ anyway, hope they like it

Day 17 since germinating ...

looks like my 'calcium-deficiency' diagnosis was probably correct ... I was using FF 'Grow Big', while waiting for my store to get their FF 'Grow Big Hydro' in stock ... I had wondered what the differences between FF 'GB' and 'GB Hydro' were, besides nutrient strengths ... comparing the two, guess what ? . .. the FF soil version of Grow Big does NOT have calcium in the formula, the Hydro version does ... cool, that explains it ... regardless, only the 'Sour Jack's showed a little bit of 'spotting', probably indicating the 'Killa Queen' and 'NorCal Daddy's Girl' aren't as calcium-dependent, or perhaps, more acid-loving ... ??? ... dunno, and may never know (or care ) ... here's the little ones on Day 17, from germination, still alive, despite my neglect ... I usually find my plants do better, when I leave them the hell alone ...

well, everybody is still alive and doing well, here on this 23rd day of life ... time to sex, so I gave them a shot of Fox Farm Open Sesame, and cut the lamp back to 12/12 yesterday, to promote flowering ... shouldn't be long now ...

I always started my seeds dry, then changed to 'pre-soaking' with paper towels a few years ago ... I recently went back to starting DRY seeds (ala Mike of Mandala's advice) in rapidrooters, and have gotten my fastest germination with those (4 days in a bubbler setup) ... a lot less chance of 'damp-off' pythium-wilt, starting them dry, too

I place a dry seed ('pointed' end down) into a 'RapidRooter' plug, which is then placed into my homemade bubble-cloner ... first 2 days dark, then gentle light for a couple more ... easiest seed germination I've ever seen ...
