first time bubbler grow need advice

hi there,av only ever grown in soil a long time ago but ive went ahead and got myself a 3 plant single 20 litre bubbler pob,i realise this is prob a big mistake right away as i dont have feminised seeds i presume when i switch for sexing and find a male the roots will be bound together and will probably result in the death of the females aswell when i kill the male/s and the left over roots die and rot the fems, anyhow i might just germ 2 and hope for 2 females, that being the case i will germ a white widow and a northern lights under hopefully a 250w mh/hps interchangable ballast, theres every possability i will end up growin in a bike shed outdoors which will be bought new for this purpose, the main reason of this thread is for you guys to give me advice on growin with a bubbler i.e. what are good recommended nutrients and doesage and an average price to use? also could i use bio-grow and bio-bloom as i used this while soil growing so id be familier with that product, ive looked around the site at threads and it seems fairly confusing with all the ppm levels and so on,is there an easy and simple method to use which would possibly be trouble free! also i work upto 12 hour shifts a day monday to friday so time and observation will not be as good as it should be,any help and advice will be appreciated no matter how obvious it may seem! well thanks in advice guys and i look forward to your advice and opinions

Ok.... Its going to be in a shed outdoors in your back yard I presume? A couple of things to consider: 1. Do you have a way of exhausting the old air and heat out and you will need to pull fresh air in as well. 2. How big is the space you want to gow in? You will need to make sure that your grow space isn't any bigger than 9 to 10 square feet to get the best out of your 250 watt lamp. What I'm saying is, you may want to put some kind of walling up around your plants with a reflective surface which you can use mylar or a cheaper method is just using white paint on the walls. As far as nutrients go, as a beginner to hydro style grow, I would go with something simple at first such as general hydroponics 3 part flora series (flora micro, flora grow, and flora bloom). Since you are using a bubbler you won't have worry about root rot so much because of the fact that you will have airstones sitting in the reservoir constantly mixing your nutes and providing fresh air to the roots. Just be sure to get a bottle of ph up and ph down that way you can adjust your ph as necessary. Always keep your ph between 5.5 and 6.5 where a ph of 6 is perfect. I have never used a ppm meter but have always just changed my nutes out about once a week to get rid of any plant waste and keeps the nutes balanced. I have been growing hydroponically for 2 years now and love it. It is a fun experience and the way you have complete control over your babies is awesome. But definitely make sure you can keep the temps below 85 and no higher which can lead to stress on your plants. If you are growing where it is not legal, make sure you can filter the odors out with a carbon filter. Best bet is to get at least a 6" inline fan with a carbon filter combo. You can get all your ducting cheap at lowes or home depot. Anyhow.. Let me know a little extra about your setup. Pics would be good too. Good Luck!!

thanks for the info 420,all i have at the moment is my bubbler(with everything needed i.e. net pots air pump rockwool air stone and hydroton),temp and humidity readers and 4 different packs of seeds 2 of the packs are white widow and northern lights from nirvana which i got years back when i was soil growing the other 2 packs are freebies i got along with the ww and nl but cant remember the strains, the missus wont be having me growing in the house so it will have to be a bike shed in the back yard when i get round to buying one!yes its illegal where im at.im wanting to keep costs to a minimum when it comes to inline fans and so on but im just buying a few bits now and then until ive got everything im needing before i germ the seeds,i will get some pics up when possible, cheers

Hey reefer, i use bio bizz for soil and asked the same question about using it in a bubbler and was told not to use it as it seperates in water.

The guy at the hydro store recommended Flairforms "Green Dream", been using it about 6 weeks and so far it seems great, (it tells you on the bottle what the ppm or ec should be and also roughly how much in ml's) but there's loads out there you can choose from.

I've had probs with the temp of the bubbler res, hopefully as yours is outside it should be a little cooler, just keep your eye on them, 20-22C is great, anything over 25C and problems start (root rot). You need to keep an eye on your ph too, it can bounce around a bit, when you've done a couple of res changes you'll notice how your ph alters and can tweak it so it stays within range. (i set mine around 5.7 and after 24hours it goes upto 6.2ish)

Good luck!
