Drip system overwater or underwater

I am using a drip system with rockwool. I am on a 3 times a day for 15 minutes feed. How do you know if my babies are getting too much? I am so worried of root rot. What are the signs of root rot? What are the signs of over or under watering? I am new at this. Trying to get my first grow.

I would water once when the light comes on then wait too see how long after that they start too wilt. this will let you know how often you need to water.

Over watering will make the leave's yellow with necrotic (brown) spot's.

Under water an the plants will go limp and wilty.

If the leaves yellow cant this also be a lack of N? How can you distinguish the difference?

Well most of the time plants dont become N deficient untill well into flower. If your nute mix is right then it's prolly not gonna be N def. In late flower if a plant becomes def. it's usually not a prob.
However over-watering is often miss-diagnosed as N def. becouse root rot caused by overwatering will look like several deficiency...becouse it is.It means the root's wont absorb nute's correctly/sufficiently.

you can run it's 'wet' cycles at night, why not ? ... if those roots dry out, you have a dead plant ... mine run 15 minutes, every 2.5 hours, 'round the clock', and a good fan pulled out excess humidity ...

During the nite cycle the plant is concentrating on root growth. It uses the stored energy from the plant to accomplish this.Having the medium more to the dry side encourages the root's too grow larger in search of more food,as we all know the bigger the root system, the bigger an healthier the plant.
How often you need to water has many variable's including but not limited too.Heat, humidity, growing medium, plant size, feed flow rate's,evaperation, and container size too name a few.
What work's for one guy will not always work for another. For example I learned this lesson while watering my ebb/flow system every 3 hours for 15 minute's,it caused root rot. When i went too watering once at light's on and once 6 hour's later I instantly saw vast improvement.
I was able too solve a confusing and difficult too diagnose issue.
Many ppl believe it's impossible too over water in hydro..but they would be misstaken.

understood ... on another website, there was a Texan's grow log, he was giving his hydro plants almost no water, at all ... something like 5 minutes, every 8 hours, sounded ridiculous, ... but, had absolutely gorgeous plants ... like you say, people do it differently, and seem to succeed ... know why, ?? ... because it's a WEED, lol ... only plant on the planet, that has survived eradication attempts for centuries, but it still grows everywhere

Chineseyes is an unknown quantity at this point
Divestoned,
Now I know why my roots looked so bad at the end of my last grow. I use drip irrigation 15 min off, 15 min on 24/7 thru my 1st two grows! On this last one, the roots were very dark and slimy. Harvest was still pretty awesome though.
Think i'll try one 15 min drip half way thru the lights out period and see how that works. Don't remember where I got the 15 on 15 off schedule, maybe watering too much all the time? The thought of my girls drying out scares me more than overwatering.
Great advice at any rate, thanks!!
