I am setting up a small grow tent. Since its so small I am trying to use a small system but still keep everything far enough apart to maximize my effort.
I found some one gallon buckets on ebay that are 6 1/4" deep and my netting is 3 5/8" deep. I am using a standard small pump w/airstone for each bucket. I am still purchasing items but before I did I wanted to make sure that this was doable or if it would be too confining for my roots.

What are your thoughts?

Welcome to the hydro section. You have a lot of reading to do. Do you have your meters ? and nutes ? Not sure about one gallons. My bro is having much trouble and he is finding out they need to be tied to a bigger rez. If you only go a gallon the water needs to be changed alot and PH hard to control.

How big is your tent ?

Yeah I got some nutes coming(pro blend grow and bloom I think). I have been reading alot on these. The bucket or res or whatever is all I need at this point.

My tent is 4x2x5. It maybe foolhearty but I am hoping to get at least 3/4 of a lb(three smoker household) out of it per grow cycle. I am crunching numbers trying to figure out how many plants to get my maximum yield.

Any advice on getting to this point would be a help.

you can turn those one gallon buckets into hempy buckets. no moving parts, and it's still hydro.

Hempy buckets seem sweet. I already bought some netting cups and a rockwool slab. If I use a hempy system hempy can I still use them?

Well in a 4x2 I could get 18 plants in 3 containers but your height is the trick here. The tubs we use are about a foot tall. If you run a 400 HPS that's another foot. This leaves you 3 feet. Veg plants to 12 to 16 inches and they will end up about 3 feet at the end of flower. We have got 1/2 to 1 pound per tub. That's under a 1000 HPS and depends on the strain. The tubs are plastic 10 gallon tubs from wally mart and 6- 3 inch netpots with hydrotron rocks and an air stone. We like to run drip system most of the time. Bubblers are just as good. The thing with 10 gallon tubs is you can only put 6 gallons of water, That's still a gallon per plant but it is easier to PH and keep it topped off with PH water. We change water about every 7 to 10 days.

We do not top our plants because of room. Too much bush when close together

What size light have you got ? Remember the bigger the light the bigger the buds.

400 watt mh+hps. I got 2 in one so all I have to do is switch bulbs for veg/flower.

Good light choice for that size. You will be happy. Now your biggest enemy is heat. check out the grow logs I bet you will find alot of answers there.

Should be cool.(no pun intended) I got a 4" inline fan w/ carbon scrubber and a air temp controller from hgt plus my house has central air.

Can you use hempy buckets to clone or do you have to transplant them into the buckets?
