From DWC to WaterFarm?

Hello, I've been growing in separate DWC buckets for awhile now, and I find that its alot of work controlling each buckets environment individually. Ideally what I want is a 4 or 8 bucket DWC system that connects to a controller reservoir so I don't have to fuss with each bucket individually.

I've debated building my own with tutorials from the web, but I do not trust my handy work with a hydroponic system, So it would be much more practical for me to just buy a complete system onlone or froma hydro store. The closest Ive found online is:

the WaterFarm 8 bucket system
water.jpg
or the Multi Flow 12 bucket system
water 2.jpg

BUT they arent DWC!

Has anyone else been in my position? What should I do? any thoughts on how either system works? or is there a way to convert the Waterfarm System into a DWC?

pretty much any thoughts on this matter are much appreciated!!!

thanks

Me too

I have been thinking of doing the same thing from individual buckets to a distrbution system. I am worried about contamination though and would love to read about others experience with a group feed. Thanks.

you can turn your existing dwc buckets into a recirculating system verry easily, all i dd was ad another bucket so i had 6 originally then the seventh bucket was basically a res with a simple hydro farm pump and a 8 drip manifold, run 1/4 tubing to all your buckets to constantly feed in through the top.attach, all of your bucket in a line with 1/2 inch tubing to the bottom of the res bucket.as the water level drops in the res it will pull water from all the other buckets whal each bucket is being refilled from the 1/4 tubing.just make sure that your buckets are all level, its not a big deal to make and the cost is about $40 for six buckets, i know its not really what you asked but the blue system you showed is an abb and flow system, and the water farm is recirculating drip system, might as well save the $400-$700 and just drill a few holes. but if it were up to me i would go with the ebb and flow bucket systems and not modify them.

Yes for that kind of control it must recirculate. I too wanted a big rez but found many setups where the rez would keep buckets topped up but not recirculate and they still have to check each bucket. I have all the fittings for a six bucket setup and a controll rez and full rez but now need a water pump to suck water from each bucket back to main rez and let gravity fill them back from the controll rez. Then i can just check main rez for PPM's and PH. Till then back to work checking each unit.

A search may help find something.

I've done the buckets, and I think Waterfarm is excellent for the person that doesn't want to build his own. I also believe Waterfarm is DWC. Due to its system of pumping the air down into the bottom of the bucket into the pipe that brings nutes up to the plant, all the water that the plant gets is exceptionally well oxygenated. The only drawback it has is the fact that you have all of your nutes all in 4 gal buckets. That, in the summer, tends to bring the nutes temperature up higher than I like, compared to having just one say 50 gal reservoir, which might be run once every 4 hrs and then returned back to the reservoir.... possibly even outside the growroom.

build a DWC with more than one plant in it, for instance, use a rubbermaid bin, make like 6-9 holes, and grow........thats my input.....

I currently run 2 plants per tub, which is fine if you're running clones... but when you're growing different strains or even the same strain from seed, each plant is going to respond differently to feeding, etc. and you wind up with a horribly uneven canopy. My next setup will be 1 plant per container, regardless of whether or not I add a controller and/or recirc. Just my on the subject. The only DWC system I know of that comes ready-made is this one

a buddy of mine uses it and well...
