Thread: Tiki's 2nd SCROG

This will be my second time growing SCROG. The first is currently about four weeks in flower. (There is a link in my signature if you're interested.)

I am doing this log to track the outcome of several changes that will be made for this grow. Everyday is still a learning experience with the current girl in flower.
Trying to take what I've learned and put it to good use.

This first round of pics will focus on the construction phase.

The closet unit that I built is 24"W x 36"L x 48"H. It is split into two different areas. One is 24"W x 24"L, this will be used for cloning and vegging. The other is 24"W x 12"L, this area will be used for moms and propagation.
There are two 4" can fans, one in between the two rooms and one for exhaust. The fan in between the rooms is run by a converter that puts out 12V DC.
The other fan is ran by a converter that puts out 16V DC. I did this to overrun the second fan to insure that both rooms have negative pressure.

The light that I built consists of a 100W hps and two 27W daylight cfl.

The final pic is of the DWC tub that will be used for her second and third stages of training. (The idea I have in my head will consist of four different stages of training.)

Now for the girl of the hour.

The main changes I will be making for this grow are; nutrient lineup, training method, and I will only be doing three reservoir changes for the entire grow cycle.

For the nutrients I will be using Advanced Nutrients. Decided to see what all the hype is about. (So far I have to say I am impressed with the look of the roots.)
The only additive that will not be AN is Pro-Silicate from GroTek.

This girl started out from a cutting taken on 12/22/2010. She started showing decent roots around 1/10/2011, and faster growth around 1/12/2011.
For timeline purposes I am calling today 12 days vegetative growth. The only training done so far has been the removal of a few lower branches.

The Soup:

• Tap water (200 ppm)
• 3 ml/gal Pro-Silicate
• 5 ml/gal Sensi Cal Mg Mix Vegetative
• 5 ml/gal Voodoo Juice
• 5 ml/gal Grow
• 5 ml/gal Micro
• 5 ml/gal Bloom

PPM = 1000
14 days of continuous res so far. (Currently only done one top off of res with straight ph'ed water.)

Just took off two more lower branches and fan leaves. (I cut off the fan leaves because they were damaged from the cloning.)
She also got fimed at 6 3/4".

I advise away from it for harvest purposes,..... I guess you'll find out when your first one drops.

The chicken wire is not going to be the final screen. It's just a training screen.
The final screen will have much larger openings.

Thanks bro! just a tad over 1000g wet off of 2 plants, bit low for that strain, but not bad.....



The chicken wire was kinda what I was thinkin,.... Train Vege to that screen to maximize the # of tops,... then let it vege up all those tops into a looser screen and train stretch to that one allowing max # tops per square foot


Well,.... that was what I was thinkin when I was plannin a similar setup, Not tryin to impose my ideas on ya. This sounds EXACTLY like I was initially planning with my first grow,.... problems got in the way tho.

I'd love to see how it would turn out if I'd have done it!

Was going back over my post and realized I forgot to list one nutrient.
The soup also got 5 ml/gal B52

The res was due for a top off.

Top Off Mix:

• 1/2 gal water
• 3 ml Voodoo Juice
• 2 ml B52
• 2 ml Grow
• 2 ml Micro
• 2 ml Bloom

PPM = 1000
PH = 5.6

17 days continuous res.

Decided today was the day that she got transplanted into the larger tub.
So I ended up going 19 days on this res. The water was still nice and clear, and the roots are simply amazing. Here's to saving money on nutrients!

Well I finally made my first newb mistake on this grow.
When I was calculating at what height to fim my girl, I forgot about one key thing. Inter-nodal stretch!!

Needless to say the main stem is taller than I wanted it to be. It's going to be a tight squeeze from here on.

She also got introduced to some bondage today.

The Soup:

• Tap Water

Well I just finished going medieval on her. She finally got the message.

I know a lot of you are going to look at the pics and say what the f**k is he doing!
But I have an idea in my head, and once that happens there's no stopping me.
My goal is to have four "main stalks" to be trained, with a super highway supplying nutrients to them. Whether or not this works out we shall see.

What's your light cycle for vege? internode spacing and density of the top node look like what I get if I leave a girl under my 24-0 T5 array for quarantine?

If so, might try dropping back to a 18-6 to encourage a slight bit more node spacing to make her easier to train.

She's been on 18/6 her whole life. Including cutting/cloning phase too.
