I wasn't that clear on redvettes thread there about the whole flush timing thing.let me get this straight...

I use GH Floranova grow/bloom so I can't just omit Nitrogen. When to flush....
Do I first check the look of the trichomes?
Is a certain trichome "look" the message to begin flushing..or....
do you begin to look at the trichomes AFTER you've begun to flush?????

flush to check trichs?
or check trichs to know when to flush?

Grapefruit says it takes 7 weeks to mature and I did veg over 4 weeks. I'm on 33 days of flower and it's looking great. I'm reading different opinions on flush times and sequences.

What's your opinion?

In hydroponics if you use a commercial flusher like the one GH has it flushes in about 4 day’s. When I flush with that I watch the trichomes once I see about 10% of them Amber I run my flush. I can hold them for up to 7 day’s with out having any yellowing but I do trim my big fan leaves the last week to ten day’s so the buds get more light to finish. And you can also extend the dark time at finish too by going 10 on 14 off the last week or so. The extra dark is supposed to help the trichomes grow larger. It’s hard to tell when every time you look at them you have a buzz anyway but they look larger.

The fun of this is to learn, experiment, and have fun. Keep good notes and play around from time to time trying something different on one plant out of your bunch. You should have one control and one play plant with each grow. You will learn more that way and have more fun too.

Yup you want a 30x they sell them at Frys, Radio Shack and eBay. You can get them for about 10-15 bucks on eBay. You want a pocket microscope.

First you will see small drops all different sizes and shapes. Then next you will see the little odd shaped round parts raising up. After that it starts to look like an odd shaped ball on a stick sometime bending or falling over. The "T" part will stretch and the odd shaped ball will start to get rounder and larger. The "T" part will straighten out and bet stronger. When you are close to harvest you will see round balls sitting on a "T" it will look round and full then turn cloudy. Amber is after cloudy and you harvest on the average of about 10-20 percent of what you see when you look through the microscope is amber and 70-80 percent is cloudy. There will still be some clear so you harvest on the average. Check in many places all around the plant and give it your best guess is all you can do.
