I don't think cactus plants can make it in hydro. Some will grow better in dirt and some will grow better in hydro. I'm experimenting right now to see what plants will do okay in hydro. The cilantro I grew did not like being underwater all the time. It eventually drowned. The ones that had their tops about the water level did fine. The yellow onion I am growing right now does not like sitting in water. Lettuce does great in hydro.

There are many types of Hydroponic systems and not all plants can grow in each one. I find top feed with grow rocks or Lava rocks can grow most herb plants. Tomato plants work very good as well as a banana tree I have seen pictures of. GK saw it at a hydro show.

Cilantro like parsley top feed systems work. With top feed you can vary the drip amount different for each plant if you need to. Straw berries grow very well in hydro. Sometime you need to use a different medium, there are grow cubes, Higromite, coco peat, soil less mixtures like vermiculite & perlite and a few others I can't remember right now.

Do you understand how many different options there are to choose?

I hope that helped you a little.

Zandor it's a bit of a "personal" question but if you don't mind saying, do you grow to smoke or to sell?

Da1KrayzieThug is an unknown quantity at this point
He doesn't grow, he just finds all his information from another friend. Growing in the US is illegal and no one should ever do it. Zandor has never done anything illegal in his life.
