I'm not the big guy's but an electrician. I can tell you that you wil end up with all kinds of copper oxides. Sorry but not a good idea.

Yes the EC will change with copper added to the mix. The acid would draw out the copper for sure.

PVC is fine though.

locnar...I have a question for you since you are electrician.

I have 3 480volt 250w hps ballasts...Is there any way to tranform/adapt them to work on either 110 or 220?

stepdown adapter? or something like that?

Seems like there should be a way to do that. Let me check with a few others and the store to see if you can get parts to do that. Will let you know soon.

You can get step down transformers to do that but the cost does not make it practicable.

sorry redvettes...I just had to take oppurtunity to pose this query.

I know about stepdowns...awhile back when I was buying up ballasts...I got 3 250w 480 volt. So I am stuck with them. I figured it would cost some money. Can you elaborate?

Thanks LN58, I watch for info...lw

YOUR plants will most likely die...

NO to any metals in your reservoir

Does the ballast transformer only have the 480V line? A lot of them seem to have like 4 input taps... could just be a matter of rewiring where the power is delivered to.

Yes step downs are expensive. If they can be re wired you would need the original schematic or know where to find them. You just might be stuck with parts. Happens to me. I could load a dump truck with stuff like that.

furthermore, burning "objects" near your plants can seriously affect the PH of your water if you are using aeration stones in your reservoirs
