yep. There are different versions. What I have done is I have read hydroponic books that I got from my library, plus there is way more than enough info on this site and on icmag.com. I prefer this site, but there are sum cool people there aswell.

read all the hydro growthreads over the last year or so, most have someone mentoring someone else in the right procedures, but most of us that are successful...have read some books. peace
