Resevior heater?? a must??

Ok well i seem to be having a problem with my nutes solidifying after i mix them. if i walk away for a good hour and come back there are particles at rest all over the bottom of the res. could this be due to low res. temps? It seems like it might be locking out nute certiant things are not being disolved and my pump is getting nasty.

Usually people need res chillers so you pretty much have to be at or below 60 to need a heater. Here is a bit of wisdom from another grower:

Quote:
The oxygen content of a fully aerated solution at 10C (50 F) is about 13ppm, but as the solution warms up to 20 C (68 F) the ability of the liquid to 'hold' oxygen drops to 9 - 10ppm, by the time the solution has reached 30 C (86 F), then it's only 7ppm.

Plant roots want oxygen.............
For cannabis you should keep the temp around 60-65, so unless your below that I would say that low temps are not your problem. Even so I have never heard of your type of problem so I would mix a bit of your nutes in a warm glass of water and see if the same thing happens. It could just be your nutes.

sth is an unknown quantity at this point
As far as I understand it you want to avoid high resevoir temps. Some people go as far as to put chillers in there. Generally the res temp will be the same as the ambient room temp.

Are you shaking your nutes properly before putting them in the res?

Hi JackdaWack
I have a under gravel pump in my res.It sucks up the water and jets it out
an adjustable outlet.I got this pump when I had a fish tank set up.You can
buy it at wally world for around $20.00.It has a tube you cut to fit your fish tank to suck water from under the gravel and jet it out over the top of the water level. Its great in this 39 gal. tub with 10 gals water & nutes Iam setting up to start a grow soon. That pump and a 12" air stone gives me alot O2 in the res.I put a small piece of panty hose around the intake of the pump this helps in two ways , one it filters the pump and two you will see how much of your nutes are not mixing or whats been used.Let me know how you solve the problem. Peace
