are my ppms alright?
My plants are now all about 2 feet tall, Still vegging them for 2 more weeks. I raised my ppm level from last week 1240, too 1440. Is that to much? I changed it last night.

for vegetative growth, I usually do not exceed 1200ppm. I like it around 1000. Its when they get to flowering that the demands began to grow. But if it doesnt burn...then its liking it.

for vegetation cycle 1400 is a bit high. 1000 is more like a good number for veg cycle just before you switch to flower. You may be giving it a bit to much N with PPM that high. When you are in the second week of flower you change from veg cycle nutrients to flower nutrients. You don't switch to flower nutrients formula the same way you switch the light cycle. Give them a week to make the change first and you will have fewer problems at the start of flower. A flower booster is good to use at that point too. It does help them kick into flower faster and fatten up the flowers too at the end. A good booster is used only the first week and not again until the last 2 weeks of flower just before you flush.

i dont really get the chance to get my ppms that high in veg, when there about a foot i flower, thats about only a week or 2 with nutes. those are gonna be huge when u start to flower, expect them to be over 4ft

also you dont neccessarily have to wait to change to your flower formula, i would just make sure the ppms are the same when u switch, the plant in theory should flower better if you change the nutes when u change the light cycle. But at the same time it takes time for the plant to switch to flowering however the flowering nutes should help it convert better i would think. If your plant is starting to flower and you have flowering nutes i would think of it as a catalyst. If you are starting to flower and still using veg nutes, i would think it would retard the plant.

To explain. The reason I say don't change your nutrients when you change the light cycle is only because it does take the plant 7-10 day's to react to the light cycle change so it's still looking for balance from the veg cycle. Between the 5 & 7 day of 12/12 the axons are being formed and it's not a good idea to risk overfeeding the cycle. Let it use up some of its stored energy first left over from the veg cycle. Then you can use a flower booster to kick it into GO with out worrying if you are over feeding it. Once you understand the little nuance of the life cycle of this plant its just common since. Of course there is light and environment that plays a huge roll as well but this is only about why you should wait before you switch to flower nutrients.

It's not just the PPM but more of the percent of the total NPK balance that you need to know. The PPM is only accurate at the time you balance your NPK anyway. After the first hour it will start to change as the plants uses up some nutrients and deposits back others it does not need at the cycle.

that is what I do...change photoperiod and use 1-1-1 veg program, wait a week to allow plant to adapt then change to bloom program. .25-1-2
In fact; You can grow really nice plants without changing the values from 1-1-1. This wouldn't yield as much, but the plants would be healthy. You back Zandor? I need a vacation... |

I am using GH flora series and going by its recommended dose for vegetative phase you should be in the 1450 range , which i'm at. This seems a big high from what you guys are saying but GH's web site even says by the recommended dose PPM should be this high. I am doing the 3-2-1 formula. My clones are 12 days old in a bubbler system. Help me!

You start counting the cycle of life even on a clone when you leave your cloner and start week one nutrients in the vegetative cycle. Sure clones inherit the age of the mother yes but when they first root you need to grow them into plants first. Just having roots and leafs out of a bubbler is not enough. Week one is 400-800 ppm week 2 is 800-1000 week 3 is 1000-1400. Each week you can see the nutrient requirements change as well as the percentage you mix. When you start with a range you don't always go with the highest number in the ppm range.
You don't start counting your plant life cycle on the day you put in in the cloner.
