I feel stupid but I want to be really careful with my plant and do it in the right way so I can smoke the wonders of the buddah plant. I was wondering how do I EXACTLY know when to harvest my plant? I know all about the trichomes and turning to amber color and all that but IT DOES NOT make any sense to me and plus i'm stuck with a curse of being color blind so there lies a problem. What other ways can I tell that my plant is ready? It grew for 90 days, Dec 1st all the way to now which is Feb 28th. Its really skunky smell and its got crystals all over it with LONG white hairs, red hairs and orange hairs. I do see bud with crystals on it. I don't understand flowering and the days of it or how it starts it doesnt make sense everytime Ir ead it over and over.I have pics posted up and please get back at me ASAP.

Viewing the trichomes is the only true way. A pocket microscope from Radio Shack works well.

You didn't say how long it's been in the 12/12 flowering cycle?

Even if you can't see amber trichs...you should be able to see clear/cloudy trichs? I would think the amber ones would just look solid/dark?

well I had it on 18 on/6 off at the beginning of growth for like 4 weeks Then I switched it to 12/12 and its been growing great ever since. so I would say its been 60 days for 12/12 and 30 days for 18 on/6 off.

Trichomes are the little white crystal looking things all over the plant. You need to get a scope like was mentioned before and check them out. Also see if you can find a picture reference of different color trichomes on that site in the link above. What you are looking for is about 25% yellow. They start clear and then turn milky, and then finish yellow/amber.
