i post about a week ago i had a bug problem but i got some sticky paper and fly strips and its pretty much cleared up now. but this morning i noticed that my bottom two leaves (the oval ones) are turning yellow and are kind of droopy now. im new to growing and have been doing as much reading as i can. i dont think ive over watered because i only water a little bit every other day. its got me alittle worried so basicly im asking do these leaves really matter, should trim them or is it a bigger problem i could be facing?

If it is on a young seedling and the oval leaves you are referring to are the first set that emerged above ground, the cotyledon, then there is nothing to worry about. Those are pretty much there to get your baby a jump start, then they are replaced by larger more efficient leaves. Don't lose any sleep over this one.

I'm just stoned enough to wonder if these aren't the leaves you are talking about, what the hell else could they be?

yeah, sounds like talking about the cotelydon leaves.....completely natural! Even if it is only the first set of true leaves, in my opinion it's natural to lose them also....Don't cut or pluck them either. Let them die naturally then take it off. When you grab it, it should just fall off.

the cotyledon are basically food storage for seedlings. it's perfectly normal for them to yellow up and die off, just like these guys said. ^^^^^

thank god. ive read this on another site but couldnt really find a trustworthy answer but this is definitely reassuring.....my baby lives another day (and hopfuly for about another two months, knock on wood)

One of my mentors once told me I could tell the health of the seedling, and how I was taking care of their needs...by watching the cotyledon. Keep an eye on 'em, as they show the first signs of stress on the young plant.

The cotyledon will show when you do something out of the norm, like overwatering, underwatering, too many nutrients, heat stress.
But they can't tell you what the problem is...just that there's a potential problem.

thanks for the heads up i dont know if it matters or not my plant is 3 maybe 3.5 weeks old so i dont know when this is supposed to happen or not but everything else on the plant seems very healthy. ill try and get a picture up once i get my hands on a camera

Guess I should clarify. It's not that the cotyledon's are all that important after the second set of leaves appear, but they are a very good way to gauge it's current health throughout early veg. Losing them quite early tells you there are improvements you can make next time.

funny how that works out. and then these new people bitch about me bitching at them for being stupid! like posting in the feedback and suggestions forum for a plant problem. and then they have the nerve to say it was an honest mistake. lmao.

there is a sticky at the top of the freaking forum that states what's acceptable. lol.

the preceeding rant pertained to no one in this thread!

i guess i'm just an a$$hole. oh well, bet they won't do it again.

i chopped down all six of the ladies. i had a nasty re-veg start. i guess it was a light leak. weird though becuase i only have a 1600 lumen CFL in the celing and a 32" tube tv in the room that they are in. i ended up with 3.5 zips.

i have two more ladies in flower now, along with a bush of a re-veg. four more to fill in for them after the chop and then i have four clones working too. i'm too lazy for a grow log at the moment. lol. besides, i prefer to help others out.

thanks for the interest though.

sorry to jack regulater. how are the plants coming along?

I just waited till i was almost done then started it. Easier to be brief and add more pics. Look at the pretty pictures (in my best drool and helmet voice).

Harvest will happen in t minus whenever the hell my lady gets back with the rubber gloves!!! Hurry woman
