Currently I have 4 plants that are about 4 weeks old. They are roughly 8-10 inches tall and already smell like crazy. I am guessing that at least two will be male, which would leave me with two. If lucky I guess, they could all be male, but I am assuming I will not end up with 4 in the end. Anyway, I am using the DIY Febreeze/Fan/Bucket thing as well as plug ins and they do not help much. You can definitely still smell the plants.
Other than a carbon filter which I can't install (also cannot vent outside of the room into attic as I do not want to cut holes in my ceiling) is there any other way to help the smell. Maybe a certain scent that masks better than another. I am worried once they hit flower in a few weeks it will get much, much worse (even with fewer plants). Also for those of you who may know, can it be smelled outside the house through the CBS walls or does it mainly stay inside. Hard for me to tell because I become used to it being around it all day. Any help is greatly appreciated as we really don't want visitors to know what we are doing. As they say, loose lips sink ships. |

Here is a link to a DIY Carbon Scrubber but you do not need to cut holes into walls etc.. it will scrubb the air in the room and keep it in the room.

Can the DIY scrubber be placed in the center of the grow room and still be effective? I have to leave my cabinet doors open so venting within the cab will not work. I do like the idea of turning over the air within the room basically cleaning it. Will the Panasonic fan and home made carbon filter work for this? Grow room is in a walk-in closet (5x8, but cab is 2x2x5) that is within a room that is 15x15 plus same size bathroom. Smell is obviously strongest in the bedroom but can be smelt in the living room as well (with door shut).
Are they any other ways other than carbon to get rid of or severely diminish the smell? Considering that they are still so young and not in flower yet can I safely assume that the smell will get much stronger? |

Idea?
Is it possible to add a carbon filter (tray of carbon or the like) to the main intake for the air conditioning system for the house? Would it be enough to clean all the air within the home? If so is the main intake the correct spot or should it be placed somewhere else? Just a thought. |

If you can vent in an attic you can use an inline ozone generator on the exhaust....works great no smell at all you need a space to let it mix and work in though

cheaper odor control
I've also heard of some salts that you can just sit out in bowls, which absorb the odor. They have charcoal or something mixed into them. I've never used them, but I have friends that say it works pretty well. Just saw some ads for them in the latest high times. But you could probably just put out a bowl of table salt and ground up charcoal briquettes and do the same thing. Mint is also a good way to mask the smell but not eliminate it. We have an herb garden on the deck, and the thyme, cilantro, and basil help with any human detection of odor from the room.
