new to site, need your help!
So I've been reading and learning so much about growing in the last three months and i have finally taken initiative and have ordered my feminized seeds and built my box
My box is about 2 feet by 4.5 feet, by 6.5 feet tall I'm going with a cool tube so i can maximize my height. a few questions and I'll be on my way, I'd appreciate it if you guys could help me out 1.With the dimensions 2'x4.5' how many plants would you think you could fit in this area if you wanted 6' high trees when harvest? The strain in blue mystic (similar to northern lights) Indica dominant. I'm thinking 3 trees? 2.I have read that you need one gallon container for each foot height of the plant. Would five gallon containers be big enough to support healthy 6 foot high trees? 3.Will a 4'' fan be enough for my outtake? 4.How big should i make the passive intake hole? 5.How much dried bud would you expect off each tree when harvest is over? |

I'm using a 400w with a cool tube, I say 6 feet just because i figure it would give me the best yeild, i only have 5 feminized seeds for now so i want to use the least amount of them as possible (rather do 3 big ones than 5 medium) figure id get about the same yeild whether i do 3 big ones or 5 medium?

Since you are just starting off I think you need to set your goals within reason. To obtain a plant the size you are seeking indoors is not impossible it's not just very likely. A four foot Indica dominate plant is a nice one indoors, and would take at least 3 if not 4 months of veg time from seed. I have grown some pretty good sized indicas from clones that were over 32 inches tall when put into flower but I have never had one over maybe 50 inches at the finish.
A 4 inch inline fan will take care of the heat from a 400 watt light but a 6 inch is better. With a 4 inch fan you will need 4 inches of passive intake. A 6 inch at least 6 inches. Just starting out 3 each 3 gallon square pots will be plenty big for flower. Yield is one of the unknowns but if you can raise 400 grams or 1 pound of dried and cured bud under a 400 watt light you will have a very sucessful grow. |

Thank you! much appreciated, so to clear up a few things...you think 3 plants could yield me 400g in a 400w? that's almost 5 ounces per plant! maybe i just cant comprehend that much off of one.
If i vegged for about 2 months how much would you expect in yield if working with my dimensions with indicas? how long do you think i could veg for with my closet space?(within reason for maximum yield |

I was thinking more in terms of having a room full of plants. Maybe 8 or so to get 400 grams. Most of the time anything over 2 oz per plant is good with a 400 watt light. The first time out you will be lucky to get 1 to 1.5 oz per plant dried until you get everything dialed in correctly.
