if it's your first time i would grow your plants in soil as hydroponics can be very difficult to get use to it and you'd proberbly end up killing your first plants as so many thing's can and will go wrong. northen light's and chronic have a low oder and are easy to grow.

Hello,
I would suggest, before anything else, do some research at www.overgrow.com and at www.icmag.com. Both sites have some great information on cultivation and seed genetics for breeding. You are going to need to purchase lights if you do not already have them. I would suggest buying some fluorescent fixtures for your early vegging (sprouts, seedlings, and clones) a (size depending on your circumstances) Metal Halide light for the rest of your vegetive cycle and finally a (again, size depending) High Presure Sodium for flowering (buding). Soil is certainly the "safest" way to go for your first few times around. However, on the other hand some people I have met have gone strait to hydro with great success. Use a nice plain organic soil (with no additives, i.e. nutrients) for your sprouts, seedlings, and or clones. Once the plants are old enough for there first real transplanting you can remix their soil. A good mix that is recomended by a breader by the name of B.O.G. is one cubic foot of organic soil, one cup of bone meal, and one cup of blood meal. Mix the soil and let it sit for a week before you use it. The soil is quite "hot" at first and needs to settle a bit before you put your babies in it. Fertilize with your chosen fertilizers. I use Pure Blend Grow and Pure Blend Bloom. Along with a few other ferts as needed. I hope all of this helps, at least a little. Peace |

Hello,
I completely understand what you are saying. The reasoning behind me saying soil first, is because (the way I see it) it is easy for an absolute beginner to cultivation to become overwhelmed in the day to day process of growing when trying to keep 10 DWC buckets going with out any major messups. Soil just seems safer to me. However I do agree with you as far as hydro being a ton cleaner than soil, plants do grow faster, and you do have a ton more control over your plants, at your fingertips. On a bit of a sidenote, what type of system do you recommend to use for hydro beginners. I have ran a good share of buckets and am more than willing to try out some hydro again. I would love any input you would care to share on this subject. the12evised - If you are interested in going the hydro route instead of soil I would be willing to do a "virtual side by side" type grow with you in a new thread. Just let me know if you are interested. Thanks for peaking my interests notanovice. Peace. |

Thanks
Hello,
I think that I will in fact be setting up a couple 3 gallon bubblers for my next go around. I will be using three dual output airpumps between the two buckets. Giving me three lines per bucket I will use the bubble curtains that you can purchase at wal-mart, one per line. I have Pure Blend Grow and Bloom for nutes, along with superthrive and such. I will be using the strain SHIT from the awesome breeder Shantibaba from Switzerland. notanovice - do you think that this will be sufficient "bubbling" for each bucket? the12evised - if you think that I am cloging up your thread please just let me know and I will edit out the off subject posts. Peace all. |
