    how far away?

    hi all,
i currently have a few seedlings vegging under 325W of blue spectrum fluors and my plants are about 9 days from when i put the seeds in the rockwell (i put them in pots of soil yesterday). I am wondering how far away from my small plants i should have this much light. Currently they are about 7-10 inches away depending on where they are in the cupboard but is this too close? Should i raise my lights until the plants get bigger? they currently are forming their second set of proper leaves and look healthy enpough but im worried they could be too close to so much light. any ideas, cheers!

You can put them closer than that if you're using flouros.
Put your hand there and feel the heat... or a thermometer.

    cheers stinky,
i cant get them any closer as the temp keeps hitting 30 as it is. Is annoying me that its getting so hot in there. Cupboard is 45cm deep, 75 cm wide and 1m tall and i have a 85m2 intake and outtake bathroom fans which i really thought would be enough for two envirolites but it isnt and its very frustrating. On the pack they say that envirolites dont give off much heat, this isnt overly true as the 200watt bugger gives off a shit load.

    Oooh, that stinks.
I haven't used that type of light, or ever had to grow in a cabinet, so I can't help you much more.
    Sorry.

The key is to remove the heat that's right under the light source to allow you to put the light closer to the plants. Doesn't sound like they will stretch where you have them now, but If you're looking to drop the light even more you'll need to remove some of the heat above the plants.
