you want a good one?

1. prepare a 'sploof'. a lot of people i see call it a doob tube or whatever, but all it is (if you want the most effective one) is to take a water bottle and burn two holes at the bottom (like buckets). stuff the bottle tight with toilet paper and bounty sheets, or even just toilet paper or kleenex sprayed with axe.
blow your tokes into this, it will mask the smell.

^^^ just by doing that, this gets rid of ANY need to open a window or use a fan. trust me, im being legit, it will mask the smell.

2. dont smoke a pipe. maddd shitty, as smoke will leak out from the bowl, and theyre rough as fuck. invest in a small bong, or just make buckets. something that you can finish your toke in one breath and clear it, so no smoke will get in the air.

3. hold your rips in long. not only will you feel it, but this also allows less smoke to leave your lungs, so when you use your sploof not a lot of smoke escapes.

4. when finished, clean up your weed, BAGS, bong, lighter, bowls, etc. first. put away ANYTHING else after that.

5. keep everything in reach of you. this way, if you do hear your parents leave their room or something you can easily shove it in a drawer or under your bed in a quick second.

best i can say is don't do it in obvious places, if your going to smoke out in public, smoke a joint, something that looks like a ciggarette etc, pipes and bongs stick out.
to hide your stash, personally, i use an empty pack of eclipse mints, can be kept out in open in cars and such doesn't get noticed at all. and i'm pretty sure there air tight but they do cover the smell.

Liked what Aristotle said and I would only add one thing to the "art of transportation." That would be to get a lock box of some sort to keep in your vehicle. Preferably one that is kept in the trunk, but if you drive a truck or SUV or other vehicle without a trunk, obviously it needs to be kept as far away from the driver's area as possible. In Cali, they can't force you to unlock the box without a warrant and it's the safest way to come home from the co-op or dispensary. As far as smoking and driving, my personal choice is not too. I have to say I liked many of the ideas, but also got a chuckle because I've not had to worry about the smell in forever. Even when I was hospitalized earlier this year, I just went out to the smoking area and lit up with my own meds....lol. Thanks for the memoriess though........lol

so if you're still worrying about your rents walking in, then you're probably not old enough for this forum. back in the day when that was an issue for us we used to use a spoof (or doob tube or zoom tube or wtf ever you wanna call it). i mean that thing never failed. i remember once, we were sitting in my buddies room which has a doorway connecting it to his mother's office, which didn't have a door just a hanging towell. i remember i was on the bed right next to the towell so close to his mom i could hear every key she hit on the keyboard, and we smoked like four bowls out of his steamroller. now that takes some balls.

Is a spoof a one time use thing, or is it reusable?

a spoofs usually good for about 3-4 smokes. you can tell if its bad though because it will probably smell like pot more than fabric softener.
