I recently aquired a graffix bong, glass on glass, thats a little over 2 feet tall.

Recently though, i've been having some trouble with hits that have been destroying mine, and my friends lungs, sending us into a coughing frenzy for about 5 minutes.

Sometimes the smoke seems to stay down the bottom of the bong, and thats when it usually starts to taste like complete ass. The smoke will occasionally turn a nasty yellow color as well.

I don't know if its the quality of the weed, if the water level is not correct, the cleanliness of the piece (which is like brand spanking new clean, as I clean it out after every use) or if the bong is just defective, Which would suck, since the bong was about 140 dollars.

Anyway, any help is appreciated. I've been smoking for about 2 years, but i've never owned a large bong, so maybe i'm just a total idiot and i'm doing something wrong.

I dont think theres anything such as a defective bong unless theres some chemicals being inhaled from the glass...?

If you have the abillity to hold ice in the stem, do it. Also try filling it with warm water...sounds weird but its very soothing.

Make sure the water level is a good inch or two ABOVE the highest hole of the stem (my diffuser has 6 holes, so it would need to be above the HIGHEST one)

what does the bong look like, is it clear? if so i dont see how the bong could be adding to what your inhaling (as in ud be able to see anything foreign in the bong)

maybe u shud try washin it in rubbing alcohol and salt, and dish detergent for good measure.

(if cleanliness isnt the problem) are you familiar with the weed your getting, are u sure u can trust it, bc it sounds like u got ur weed laced

Your weed got wet. Sometimes, water will go back up into the down stem, particularly if somebody inadvertently blew into the bong. All the hits after that on that bowl (until it dries--if its resy, that can be a while) will be horribly nasty and harsh as hell.

Maybe you're just rippin it too hard man.

Also, the smoke can get stale if you leave it in there for too long. It's not very tasty, then.

Yeah I've had that problem before and I realized it was caused from when i would hit it I would fill it with smoke, exhale, and then clear it which let the smoke set a moment and got really nasty.

Simple solution for me was to not wait between clearing it, since I cant take huge hits I had to burn the bowl less so I didnt kill myself trying to clear it.

dont let that shit sit, that stale smoke still needs to be inhaled. the smoke goes stale at a fairly quick pace so suck it up quick, no homo =p

Sounds like you are taking too big of rips. After all, it IS a bong, a risk of coughing is obviously increased.

You said the smoke goes yellowish? That only happens to me when I use a gravity bong, and the smoke is so thick, I could chew it.

Try taking smaller hits or using more water in the bong. The more water, the less space in the bong.

Bongs are hard hitters, especially if it is a ft in height. That's a lot of smoke to enter the lungs all at once within seconds.

Plus, don't let the smoke sit there for very long. As someone said, it gets stale quickly. So fill up the bong with smoke, then release the shotgun hole or slip the slider up. Don't let the bong fill and fill and fill. Just fill it up quickly, and suck it back.
