Has anyone smoked a hookah before? I went to try it for the first time with some friends a few weeks ago. It was going fine for a while, but then I started feeling dizzy, and then a few minutes later I felt more sick than I had in a while, it was terrible. I ended up puking hard 4 times on the way back to my friend's house.

I've never heard of anyone getting sick off a hookah. Has anyone else had a similar reaction? I can only guess that it was due to lack of fresh air or it being my first time I ever smoked tobacco. Bleh, it almost makes me sick just thinking about it. Guess it's just not for me.

When it comes to tobacco:

I've never had hookah, but one time I smoked a black & mild after me and my friend had a j and a few bowls, and I got pretty sick from that (barfing and stuff)

I smoked hookah quite a bit last summer. I didn't get sick, the key is to not do it for a long amount of time imo.

That's a typical reaction from someone who isn't really used to tobacco. I know a guy who puked after trying his first pinch of chewing tobacco. Intense amounts of tobacco shock your system.

I wouldnt EVER smoke tobbacco from a hookah. Just not for me. Ive smoked weed from a hookah, it was neat. It was a fun social type of thing, but not something id use often. Id still pass a blunt around or a bowl around anyday over a hookah, but sometimes its a nice change.

Ive puked off it before. I've smoked it quite a lot but i did throw up once in my early days. It was on strawberry shisha, it was a very sickly flavour tbf and it was only my 4th - 5th time smoking it. it was at a shisha bar too, i went outside and threw up in the bin outside in front of the windows - i felt a bit guilty lol. but the owner bought me in and said it's happened before, its something to do with the smoke thinnin or thickenin ur blood or something. Anyways, the owner gave me a glass of water and put a few teaspoons of sugar in and told me to drink it and it would sort me out and it did.

My girlfriend bought me a Hookah, Ive only smoked shisha through it a few times but since I smoke tobacco anyway I dont get sick. They are great for smoking weed through, stick to that.

ive never had shisha (or a "real" hookah), but what happens if yousmoke weed in it w/ shisha? like fruity bud?, or more like flavored papes?

their could be a few reasons i've found that could be why u got sick
-what you ate before, i ate some mexican before once and i didnt feel so hot
-drinking something can help
-if the hookah wasnt prepared right, ie unclean hoses, not moving the coal properly
these are some ways to prevent feeling sick.

I used to get sick when I smoked a cigar for too long, or when I smoked pipe tobacco too much. It's normal. Try smoking less next time, and eventually that sick feeling will just go away even if you smoke a lot.

If you've never smoked a hookah before: IT'S AWESOME! Tastes great, relaxes you, and fun to blow some rings. But don't smoke a shit ton or real fast because you will boot from all the nicotine. It is harmful for you though, so if you don't want the risk of cancer, don't smoke, or do it in moderation. Personally, I could chief on one all day instead of cigs, and I'd probably be dead twice as fast.

I like hookah it relaxes me. I love chilling at a hookah bar with a group of friends on the big squishy couches.

A study once showed that tobacco through a hookah, during a half hour session, delivered the nicotine equivalent of 3 cigarettes, and the tar equivalent of 30 cigarettes. Hookahs are not designed for inhaling as far as safety goes, you just taste the smoke like with a cigar or pipe.

The smouldering charcoal has a more potent carcinogen than other tobacco forms. I'd use the hookah without charcoal for weed only, like a hosed bong.

Yeh ive had the happened to me before, i got a nice little buzz off the hookah but i felt sick and threw up later on. I hate hookah....and tobacco.......ill stick with the ganj

I love my hookah, we use it all the time here, you'll only get sick with certain flavors that really are sickining, but with regular Double Apple flavors you shouldnt have any problem, its a nice full buzz and goes great with drinking but i really never use mj in it, not worth wasting it

I smoked it for an hour my first time with a friend at an Indian restaurant around where I live and ended up puking my guts out. It was after i finished my meal when I started to feel sick. I put the money down for the food, tipped the guy who set up my hookah, walked outside and puked lol. We drove to my friends house and I puked in his sink. I then drove home and had to pull over and puke on the way there. Hookah is very fun to do...just dont over do it when you begin smoking it.

To be fair, that study was highly criticized for methodologies employed. Well, maybe we're talking about different studies.

Either way, its pretty clear smoking ANYTHING isnt exactly safe for you, so why stress the safety aspect? You're burning something and inhaling the smoke, its not gonna be great for you...

I've smoke a few time some weed mix with some wet tobbaco (3 apples), it was great ! I've smoke really hard on it, as it was not tasting weed but only the apple stuff... Gave me a great high, I had a really good experience with that.

Smoking Nargila (flavored tobacco) out of a hookah is equal to smoking three cigarettes per drag in terms of tar. Plus, in my experience, you always have to use a whole bunch of weed to get a hookah going well, if that's what you're smoking. So, it's fun if you do it very occasionally, but otherwise I'd leave it alone.

hookahs are crap, there worse than cigerettes and they dnt even give you the same feeling as cigerettes , there worse and dnt even have any effects, u might as well jus smoke some weed and eat an apple at the same time, if you want flavoured smoke

If you are smoking shisha out of a hookah, don't inhale it. treat it like a cigar. shisha is mostly molasses and you will get sick if you inhale a large quantity of it. i never really have a problem with it anymore but thats because i smoke way too much (cigarettes).
