Lowryder is a separate strain, called ruderalis (sp?).

As far as being medical, I don't believe any specific strain is "medical"......Certain varieties have been breed for the qualities desired depending on the targeted ailments.

Lowryder I believe was developed more for stealth than quality thus making it a poor choice for most medical ailments.

Lowryder #2 is a cross between the autoflowering dwarf, Lowryder, and a variety known for copious resin production, exotic taste and soaring highs (Santa Maria is an indica/sativa mix originally from Brazil).
IMO Lowyder2 is a good medical strain, it is quick, easy, and works. (At least for me it does.) I don't care much for the original LR, but I like LR2. My smallest got to 6 inches, and my largest, to 23 inches. The high is uplifting, and surprisingly strong. I can function well during the day with it.
It's worth a try IMO. Attached are some shots of some of my last LR2 crop.

I grew some very powerful Masterlowyryders.
they were crossed with master kush.probably some of the better bud i've smoked!
as for your question of it being a medical strain...I'm not really sure.but I grew it for med reasons and it helped me.(I have asthma and stomach problems.)
The masterkush lowryderbuds were extremely dank...so primo you would have no idea it came from a 13'' tall plant unless you grew it or knew who did!

They do use a secret ruderalis(from russia I believe)for it's auto-flowering qualities.

Or maybe it's descended from an autoflowering hemp variety that is commercially used and available... you could probably find it if you search.

I don't know about the original lowryder but lowryder 2 is great for pain. When my lower back acts up I just take a toke or two and im good for about two hours. Potency is way better than anyone will have you think. I know because I have grown this strain as well as many others including exotics. I would choose well grown and cured lowryder 2 over 99.99% of the shit availabe on the streets.

I'm not saying lowryder 2 is the best, or even close to the best, but when it is grown and cured well I would consider it above average or even very good.
