*shrugs* I wish I could help more, but I have no idea. If it keeps up for the rest of today, it's probably time to go to a dentist.

Go to the dentist, it sounds like an abcess. These things can turn nasty if left untreated.
I left one growing for over a year, and it wasn't until my tooth fell out that I went to the dentist and had it treated. It was spreading across my whole cheek this thing. Last edited by Staurm; Jun-02-2007 at 11:13. |

If you had an abssessed tooth, you'd know bro. Just imagine someone being inside of your tooth, grinding the inside of your tooth with a pin, and trying to escape through your gums. In other words, you'd be in a tremendous amount of pain.
You just have a sore gum. Could be from lack of brushing, or brushing your teeth too hard. Stop poking at it, and take it easy when brushing on that area, or if you haven't been brushing your teeth at all or not good enough, it could be plaque and bacteria building on there. When you have an abssessed tooth, you'll know it, but if it does get worse, then go see a dentist, but poking and pushing on it will just irritate it more.

If its plaque or rotten food growing in there it could be developing into an abcess, or already such. Sometimes they flame up, other times you don't notice so much. I had one for a year and the pain was not so bad, mainly because my tooth was dead.
If nothing else, for peace of mind get it sorted. Go to the dentist. |

When I had an abscess on my gum I would've explained it more-or-less the way you did, so it sounds like an abscess to me. I can't remember how it cured (I was about 8 at the time), but it annoyed me immensely. Try not to touch it in any way or squeeze your cheeks in. Only makes it worse.

Abscesses are nothing to mess around with! They can "blow up" in an amazingly short time. They can KILL YOU! If the abscess pops into a blood vessel, you can go into septic shock. (A friend's dog died that way.) Granny's not fooling around on this one, kid. Go to a dentist or emergency room as soon as possible! If you're lucky, some antibiotics will be all you need.- Granny

Storm Crow is right. I didn't want to say that and scare ya, but I've heard of it happening. It COULD have happened to me if my tooth hadn't fallen out! If it hits your brain your life is in danger. But don't worry it's rare that happens, just relax and more importantly get your ass down to the dentist.

This'll help!
I'm gonna tell you the same thing my dad always told me (and it always helped!) Gargle with some warm water with salt dissolved in it. Yeah, it tastes like hell, but if you do that a few times a day until you can make it to the dentists office, you'll be fine! So yeah, try it and get back to us, eh?
