Try Sativas instead of indicas. Sweet Island Skunk, Silver Haze, and Super Silver Haze are good examples.

if you think smoking pot is going to motivate your life your dead wrong. the only thing it might motivate you to do is eat and sleep but as far as getting things done its not much help. motivation is an attitude not a problem

Ok so now that you have adjusted your attitude and cured yourself of depression. Try a good sativa and try vaproizing and/or consuming it in various forms (as available) to see which suits your needs. Finding a good strain is part of the solution. Consuming it in a variety of ways allows you to tune your symptom management. GL

Durban Poison is a sativa that's pretty easy to grow and it's an "up" high rather than a stoney munchies feeling. But I think that drugs alone can't "cure" depression. You have to change your habits too. Clean your home! Throw away all your junk! Then smoke a joint and fantasize about what you really want to do. I think pot is good for that. It makes it easier to daydream without being discouraged by limiting ideas about what is possible. And sativas don't make you tired so it's fun to go running when you're baked and you'll definitley feel better after you get all sweaty and out of breath.

Anyway... Like everyone else suggested... Go with a Sativa/Dominant strain. Good ones that come to mind are Kali Mist and Strawberry Cough to "motivate." Look for something with an "up" high.

you guys must not smoke like i do because i just had some strawberry cough and one hit of that thru the gravitron had me locked on the couch

there are distinct differences between indicas and sativas but only at low levels, if you sit there and smoke blunts you're going to be faded regardless of the strain

Thx for the replies

I wasn't very clear with this thread, sorry. I have smoked only one strain, SSH, which has given me a very up high. SSH also did not leave me feeling hung over the next day. I struggle with apathy more than depression, and I would like to have a list of meds (bud strains) to help me when I need a good kick in the ass emotionally.

Thx again for the suggestions.

Marijuana? Depression? Motivation?

Haha, I love that title. Yea, some cannabis exhibits stronger stimulant properties but if you are looking for a long term/daily solution this isnt gonna fix it. Feeling down or need to relieve stress on certain days? Smoke up.

Otherwise weed acts AS a depressor/demotivator to most groups. Everyone is different though.

You need some SWEET TOOTH #3 or #4 from Spice of Life seeds.

Also try the Flo or F13 from DJ Shorts. Both very motivational, clear, "up" highs.

For depression relief though there is really nothing better than the tooth.
