I happen to know that exact creek up from Hoopa on HWY 96 where the Patterson movie was filmed (The famous Bigfoot flick) When he died a few yrs ago, on his deathbead he admitted it was faked.
But that would be a richteous spot!! ZERO cops, lots of nature and the mighty river is nearby.
Not much too worry about except the ice melting and beer getting warm.

I went to HSU and used to love to go to Willow Creek --- get out of the Arcata fog and into the sunshine and heat! Swimming in the river, laying on the beach, smoking the green. and drinking the beer! My brother still lives in Arcata, so now he knows a lot of "secret" river places to go, which is even better. Does it really warm up by 4/20? It always seemed like we went later in the summer.

Excellent! I love the rivers.
Ever go to Reggae on the River south of Garberville? That was always the high point of the summer. By then the river is so nice for swimming. It seemed like all day long it was the same circuit over and over. Up to the concert area for the music, then down to camp for a beer out of the cooler, then into the river at the upstream end for a float back to camp, then a hit or two off the pipe, then back up to the concert area, repeat... You kind of have to conserve your strength because the best bands are at night, and you need some energy left. We'd get there as soon as they'd let us in on Friday and not leave till Monday --- most concentrated weekend of partying ever. After you've experienced it, you couldn't really even believe such a thing was even possible in the US. They still do it, don't they?

I just picked Willow Creek off the top of my head, but it's good for me, only about 3-4 hours away, if I remember right ... and, since so many strangers show up in town to 'investigate' the hairy guy, doubtful we'd even be noticed ... right in 'downtown' Willow Creek , they have a carved wooden Bigfoot statue on the north side of Rt. 299, , and I think there's a restaurant right close, for meeting, etc. ... I'm up for it, if anyone else is, I enjoy the drive ... my Civic gets 40 mpg, so it's do-able for me ...
