Question I'm looking for a good doctor. Also, how much is the entire process?

So I'm looking to get a consultation soon, currently looking for doctors in the East Bay area.

I'm curious; how much should I be paying for a year-long Card, and should there be any fees (consultation, etc) associated with the card?

For instance: (X) amount for the card and (X) amount for the visit? Or is the card the only cost? Do I get the card at the same time as the consultation or is there a waiting period?

Anyhow, can someone recommend me a good doctor to go to, I have valid health issues and I've been on prescription medication before. Should I bring my medical history with me? Also, how much should I expect to pay for the entire process?

Thanks!

Smile Let me walk you through the process....

1) Get a copy of your medical records from your regular doctor. Just ask.

2) Go here- CA NORML Medical Marijuana Information and call the local doctors- prices vary a bit, but under $200 for an initial visit is the usual price. There are cheaper places, but the doctors on this list will back you in court if need be.

3) Take your records, pill bottles, ID, proof of residency and the cash to the doctor you have chosen.

4) You get a standard 1st visit- fill out the forms, vitals get taken and finally a chat with the doctor- should take an hour total. You pay the cute receptionist and she hands you your recommendation.

5) Walk out legal!

The doctor's note is ALL you need to be legal to use (8 oz) and grow (6 mature plants). Cards are OPTIONAL! There are 2 types of cards- county and dispensary.

The county card MAY get your name on a list, but it is supposed to be confidential. I, however, trust the local government about as far as I can chuck the county court house- so I don't have one! If you are a "cop magnet", it may be worth the extra expense. Cops are supposed to honor the cards and leave you alone, not take your cannabis, etc. Keep your cannabis in the trunk of your car when transporting it!

The dispensary cards are needed only if you plan on buying cannabis from them. They are cheaper than the county cards (I have paid $5 and $10 to the two dispensaries in my county), but have no legal weight. Cops do not have to recognize them.

One last thing- please turn the doctors you use on to my "Granny Storm Crow's list" (linked below). You might also find it an interesting read.

Wow, thanks so much for the help! I guess I have just three more (minor questions) if you have the time?

-Will I have to pay the same fee every year if I get a doctor's recommendation, or is it a one time fee? If I need to renew it, is there a cost associated?

-Is it OK to bring around a copy of the doctor's recommendation, not the actual original in case its seized or lost? Should I keep a copy anywhere I have my medicine?

-Is the doctor's recommendation valid in all of California, in the Bay Area only, or any state that has legalized?

Anyhow, thank you so much for your help, I'm about to look at your list. I'll check back here in hopes of seeing a response to my above questions.

Thanks again!
