When Will My Card Get Here?

It's been a solid 2 months now since the state gave my my grow/use papers. They cashed the check for the fee very quickly. How long is a person expected to wait before the card arrives?

It takes awhile, some take 3 months, but the good thing is your card doesnt exprie till longer.so its kinda good that way, they dont stamp the expire until the send the card.

I called them today, they said if my application was denied that I would have heard from them straight away. The fact that I've not been given the card yet is indeed a good thing. As pointed out, I can start growing now but my expiration/renewal date doesn't begin it's tenure until I have received my card. Good for me but a pretty damning commentary on the efficiency of government. Slow as a slug for something as simple as issuing a card. And these are the same people that want to manage our health care?? Sorry I'll pass on that one.

Yeah,I had some kinda problem with mine, a part on my id,but it took 3 months for me.
Did you take it into DHS yourself,or did you just mail it in?
I took mine in and paid upfront, they gave me a reciept which works temporarily and then 3 months later got my card.I was kinda panicky too,but some of the oregon MJ forums were useful they let me know it takes awhile and stuff.

I took it to the downtown Portland offices, gave my signed medicals from the doctor and paid my fee. The lady behind the glass stamped it and said I was safe to use/grow with the stamped doc's and that my actual length of prescription wouldn't start until I physically received the card.
I've started to grow already and am nearing my first harvest (using automatics for a 70 day crop). Things are looking up but I would sure feel better if I had the actual card in hand.

It's been three months for me. I still use the outdated material in the event authorities come to my home, to prove I'm at least trying.

I remember reading that in the first years of the MMP here in Oregon, the "fees" were producing a small windfall (they underestimated the number of people who can't afford chemical pharmacueticals and want to grow their own medicine). That led to lowering the fees for certain individuals, like SSI recipients, disability, etc. Then when the economy went bust, the powers that be decided to use some of that windfall for other govrnmental agencies. Now, apparently, the pendulum has swung the other way, and they can't seem to keep up with the work load, probably because their budget was robbed. Although I think that the original fee was a bit too high, I diligently paid the fee, and everything worked just fine.

BTW: There were those, (not me, unfortunatey) that predicted this very scenario. I applaud their perception.

I got a letter from them stating that everything was going ok and they were waiting for a confirmation from my doctor. I thought all the documentation, signed by the doctor and fee paid was all they needed. This is really is a crazy length of time. Long even by government standards.
