Q-tha-cannabis-king is an unknown quantity at this point
a few questions regarding soil!!!

i was just informed a few days ago that most potting soils will kill your plant in one of its last stages, something having to do with nitrogen or something. I also heard that the best thing to do is dig up your own soil and cook it in the oven?! (has anyone heard of this?) well bassically i really would hate it if my baby died 3 months in to the grow soooo pleeez gimme input

some commercial soils contain 'time-release' nitorgen fertilizers ... during the flowering stages, you don't give your plant nitrogen, as it can interfere with the flowering growth ... it does NOT kill the plant, just delays flowering a bit ... 'Miracle-Gro' soil, and others with the included nutes, theoretically have used up all the nitrogen, by the time you flower your plants ... however, some people grow and flower to different schedules, where the included nitrogen interferes with flowering ... (does not kill it) ...
you can dig up soil, and bake it, to kill insect eggs and fungi, but it's a LOT easier to just buy a good potting soil ... go to any nursery, tell them you want a good, mild potting soil, without included fertilizers (hopefully something pH-balanced, but seldom found)... peat is also not good, is too acidic (good luck on that one, almost every potting soil has peat in it) ... for seedlings, the Fox Farm Happy Frog is outstanding, I love the stuff ... for older plants, their Ocean Forest soil is also good (tends to be a bit 'hot' for seedlings, sometimes) ...

Look for something that does not have "time-release" ferts... pro-mix is easy to find.. home depo.. and look for some dolomite lime(will help your soil from becoming to acidic and brings calcium and mag to the party) and add about 2 TBLS per gallon.. pick you up a bag of perlite.. and sit back and watch the show!
Good luck!
