cuttings as food!?!

when I need to take the old leafs of my plant i let them decompose in the soil that my plant is in instead of just throwing them away. just wondering dose anyone else do this and what do you think of it if you dont.

i wouldnt just let them decompose on the soil, you are asking for mold/bug/rot problems that way. if you could compost them first though in another place why not use them for something?

You don't want to use it as a food source it would take a while to break down to be available to the plant. If it doesn't cause the problems listed above. For a plant that you kill in 3 months this would be a poor way to feed it.
