hey all. I'm greatful to have found this forum, you guys are the *#@%, and obviously know what you are talking about/love what you do. I for the time being can only say the latter.

My query is simular to nightprowlers. I too started in 'merical gro', [4 inch pots] but last night transplanted to pro mix [8 inch].

The question is: does the miracle gro have a fungicide in it that will kill the embedded mychorrizae in the promix? Cause I was real amped 'bout the microbes and fungus. Should I give a dose of liquid compost to start the microbes a-churnin? or hold off a week cause I just transplanted? Will my plants work the miracle-chems out of themselves by harvest?

It will be fine. The MG will wear off and the plant is doing well with the fungus because thats just what it does. It helps alot.
Keep it up. It will be fine. Nothing bad in MG anymore. Just really acidic.
But in the other soil it should balance out.

I'm pretty sure they don't put fungicides in their soil, at least not those that'd stick around for very long [ i.e.: after like two flushes ]. I've used mycorrhizal fungi with straight Miracle-Gro soil, and it turned out great. If the plant only has a four inch pot worth of Miracle-Gro soil in it's roots, it'll be fine. Just don't fertilize for like a month and a half, two months -- if EVEN considering you've only got a minute amount of those continuous feed capsules in there.

If you're really concerned about the fertilizers in the soil, just flush the soil three times before harvest really good; and on the last flush, about a week before harvest, flush with three times the volume in water as there is soil in the pot.

As far giving them liquid compost, I'm not sure about it. Can you get your hands on some mycorrhizal fungi? That'd be the best thing to get the plant going. In fact, it'll also assist in removing the NPK value from the soil a bit quicker as mycorrhizal fungi allow for an increased water and nutrient uptake. In essence, a much healthier plant that'll typically produce more weight in a shorter period of time.

Thanks guys. The promix I transplanted into claims to have a mycorrhizal culture already in it, as well as some other benificial microbes, but not much in the way of nutrients for the plant [i think]. My understanding is that liquid compost is essentially a food for the microbes, which, in addition to helping to increase root biomass (by attaching to, thereby extending them!!??), also aid in breaking down nutrients into a more digestible form for the plants right?. It also apparently helps to neutralize the ph of the soil, not sure how. I was planing on starting up on a nute regimen in like a week, but Kush Over, your telling me to hold off for a month or more, even if the MG comprises only about 10 percent of the soil at this point?! I was looking forward to giving them some organics to eat. They yellowed a bit after the transplant, does that mean an over nutage left over from the MJ?
