Thank you, thank you and thank you! Officially, my growing God! I grew in the '70's and did not recall all this stuff being so much trouble. Not too many books then either. Have been reading tons. I just started my 6 seeds yesterday and decided to try to do what I remember from the '70's! Easy! I am forever grateful and will be watching constantly! Have been looking for you!

I do not have a camera, so don't expect a picture of mine, sorry. Appreciate yours ever so much!

FA: do you use the same plan for clones? Thanks!

Thanks for all the thanks everyone I finally got a working camera and will be taking some pictures tonight of the outsiders. One has a stem the size of a broom handle here are the pics of the good genetics Blueberry, White Widow, and Northern Lights #5. There are 5 of each and on the other picture is 12 more of good strain and 22 of the rest of my bag seed. Use the same method for cloning keep the plants in a non see through cup with fresh distilled water for a couple of days and wait for white roots to pop out of the bottom of your cutting. I just purchased some rooting gel for cheap at a garden center. Then you will be able to transfer to soil (cups) then outdoors.

Question about topping/cloning

You will need to take a clean razer blade and on your plant cut right underneath the 3rd set of leaves from the top. Cut your plant at a diagonal angle kind of like this / . After a few days your plant should start forming 4 new growing colas. With the topped part of the plant you can create a small clone of the female mother plant by taking it by the stem and placing it in a cup of warm water and misting it here and there. After a few days a small white root should pop out of the bottom. Once this occurs you are able to move this newly rooted plant into another cup or directly into the ground using the same methods you have already learned.
If I have a rooting gel, can I top the plants, dip the cutting into the gel, and then put the cuttings directly into the ground or would it be advisable to put them into a styrofoam cup or something first? The plants are already outside, and unfortunately have no setup to veg the clones inside first so I'll have to put them outside as well.

One more question

Is it even worth taking clones when you arent sure of sex? Seems like since around half are males anyways then taking clones of unknown sex plants could be just making more males?

they're coming along nicely frost

and purp, i'm not sure that the top will be able to develop roots but I've never cloned b4 so not 100% on that.

Ok guys I have some updated pics of some 3 foot monsters and this will also be a cloning tutorial. I took 5 clones from some pretty big plants.

I took these cuttings at a 45 degree angle and used Styrofoam cups, water, tape, and rooting gel. The first thing to do is cut about 2-3 nodes below the very top of the plant. Next fill up your cup of water almost to the top take a Styrofoam plate and cut out a circle a little bit bigger than the top of the cup and tape it to the top. Now take a pin and poke a small hole in the middle of the top of the cup. You will want your stem to fit snug in the hole. After some time you will begin to see the roots forming out of the bottom of the stem. You have to keep the roots away from light. After the root system has developed you can then transfer to a soil medium. It is a good idea to wait for sex to show or make sure you label the clones with the original plant.

the biggest benefit to cloning before sexing is that you can leave the parent to veg while you sex the rooted clone.

then, you cull the male cuttings and parent donor plants and either continue vegging your girls or, you can start taking cuttings from the parent donor fems to fill a sog, plant out side or whatever you want.

also, topping is something that is beneficial for some strains and not others, check with the breeder (if you're using bagbeans then you have to experiment to find out if it will increase your yield), some plants won't reach thier full potential unless they are topped, some, it doesn't help yield at all

and yeah, if you top, you can root that top to become a clone for flowering or to become a new momma

another thing to consider is that rooting cuttings from a plant that is already in flower is more complicated (not for you, for the plant), it can certainly be done, hell it has and is done, i just believe it is easier to clone from plants in the vegetative growth stage

anyway, i hope that answers your question a little more fully

FrostAies Basic Outdoor Grow Journal/Tutorial

I have been following this closely and considering my first grow and proper timing due to Summer Solstace!

This is an excellent read and I hope the easiest and least stressful way I've discovered. With the exception of a friend I have that lives quite a distance from me. This and hopefully a good book on subject, which I may be close to already! I'm getting so excited about my first grow by reading this and my conversation with a friend! p.r.

ok guys after working like a slave for the last month or so and getting a new girlfriend I have been real busy but still made time for the babies that are growing up nicely I just got a new camera thats pretty sweet and here are some pics of the indoor even though this is the outdoor section Of blueberry in the front northern lights #5 second and 2 white widows behind that. The picture of the smaller plant is a outdoor clone. The rest are from good bag seed. They have been under 12/12 for 1.5 weeks now and have not yet shown sex but I have been checking daily. The outdoor bag seed strains are really monsters now over 7 feet tall and 5 feet wide with so many nodes. I am going on a watering/nutrient/sexing trip tonight and will be able to take some pics. Here are some of the indoor I will be more active now until harvest for all watching

Here are a few pictures of the outdoors The good strains are coming along very nicely and the bag seed strains are well over 7 feet tall with multiple growth shoots. The majority of plants this year have been female so far with only 1 male pulled. Lets hope this keeps up

That's some fertile farm land!

Corn is about ready to harvest... But what's wrong with your plants? Too hot/dry, bugs, or..?
