No rush to switch nutes--think how it happens in nature:
Different nearby vegetation dies, rots, and fertilizes the soil from above as your roots dig deeper / wider and encounter different nutrients in the soil. Happens gradually as you move further into "season." Probably the biggest difference the plants will notice is less available nitrogen when you switch to bloom nutes. As nitrogen helps a vegging plant get big and strong, you don't need to be in a hurry to kick your babies off the veg nutes. (If you had vegged the plants indoors at 24/0 until they were a couple feet tall and bushy, might make sense to slam them into flower when you stuck 'em outside, but that's just me.) Keeping the plants on veg nutes won't prevent them from flowering; the light cycle's gonna take care of that. Some folks like to flush all the veg nutes out and suddenly change to bloom nutes when they switch to 12/12. Never seemed necessary to me. (I have to flush often enough just cause of salt buildup from hard water and nutes.) ![]() Don't stress over the male plants. They're gonna be close to 50% over the long haul, obviously. Some say stressing the plants in any way (pot crowding, bugs, wet soil, etc., etc.) contributes to more males turning up. If that's true, it's another reason to try to do "everything right" when the plants are young. It does seem like the biggest, strongest, prettiest seedlings often turn out to be male, FWIW. ![]() Odd you should get a hermie so young (although I guess I was only 9 when I started trying on my sister's clothes!) Be a little patient confirming the "maleness" of your flowers. Some strains produce new growth that looks a lot like "balls" at first, that then just develops into new shoots. Once you have confirmed maleness, you're probably going to need to kill them. Between breezes and insects I think those males can get your ladies knocked up from a hundred yards away pretty easy. HTH. The plants are looking nice, BTW. Good work. Hermie |

, another update (i need to buy more batteries for my camera, will probably have pics up later) i finished applying the plastic sheeting over the frame, i think its still getting too hot during the day to put them underneath yet, or atleast till i can get it completely covered with another roll of sheet plastic.I ended up pulling the male and letting the hermie grow a bit longer, still far far away from the others.. which are looking amazing, they are branching out very nicely, and no more male preflowers (not yet atleast) so im hoping to have atleast 4-5 mature ladies here soon . Still feeding the older ones full strength nutes and 2-3 drops/gal of superthrive, seems to be working quite well.I was wondering what the temperature threshold for the plants is, at midday the temp gauge reads 93 deg underneath the tent. which ill be using eventually when they start to flower to keep them out of the rain, and later sheltering them from cold. And as always, i appreciate any comments or criticism! |

Hey man looks like your on a journey
![]() If ya put em in the ground they will not dry out so fast and they would be cooler in the ground, plus have the advantage of unlimited root growth Good luck

Ah, well the plastic is only there for when winter rolls around here, sometime around january some years its dropped below 30deg far. but no less. But yeah, the ones in the bigger pots im going to keep them where they are, id be too worried about killing it trying to transplant in a clay pot like that. The soil around is way too acidic for any kind of real growth to occur (believe me ive tried), id rather try my luck with large pots
![]() Temps here dont start to get low until early january so i think it'll be fine until then. The humidity factor out here is rediculous as well, somewhere around 70% today. But i make sure they never get dehydrated ![]() okay so here i've got a couple pics of the tent and underneath, obviously in need of more construction *and sheet plastic*, but for now it serves its purpose. Eventually ill get it ready for winter, for now they are starting to bush out, looking nice

I grow in pots too. They dry out fast when the temp's get up there, so ya might want to watch em close. Can anyone see that green house? Just thinking someone might want to investigate it. Just looks out of place, but if your comfortable then, your call

High, LSY--whassup?
Hey TK, it just occurred to me-- Are your plants somewhere they won't catch any "stray light" after dark? That can cause problems with hermies and flowering. No porchlights. No streetlights. Occasional car headlight OK, but not much more than that.... Nothing continuous any brighter than the stars and moon, and that's pretty dang dim. And plants love to get transplanted. Looks like you may be getting close so time to start reading up on it. It's easy--no sweat. ![]() Take Care, Hermie |

Nah man, i live in "the country" if anyone can see the "greenhouse" theyre using binoculars, i know my neighbors, we tilled a 20X10X8 plot last year and grew tomatoes and corn, so they dont really suspect anything sinister. and im not feeling any paranoia
. I transplanted a couple more the other day, im gonna wait another week or two before transplanting the bigger ones. Which btw 2 have already started showing me white armpit hairs . It is 100% darkness out where they are at night, It turns out the one i thought was a hermie was just a male, but they were definitely showing pollen pods so i ended up destroying him as well . They are really shooting up right now, definitely very healthy. So far each time i've transplanted the plant was already reaching for the sun again an hour later, so i dont think im to worried in that sense, its just that it's easier to move a plant thats in a plastic pot as opposed to a clay pot. Ill have some pics up in a couple days, until then, any comments or criticism welcome!! |

So! a bit of good news bad news deal today.
I had to remove another male , i decided to let this one live to practice topping and some LST techniques. On the higher note i have one thats already showing pistils at multiple internodes, sad though i wish she was taller but thats what you get for planting this late I transplanted one of the bigger ones today, still hasnt shown its gene's yet but hopefully soon she'll be showing me some flowers too .I was going out this weekend to shop for flowering nutes and i was thinking about going with Fox Farm's Tiger Bloom/Big bloom, let me know what you think!! |

Hey man, first thing, chop the male! You will be plenty busy with the girls and LSTing is something you can read about. Its not hard. The pollen from a male can travel pretty far. I found a few seeds in mine and i had chopped up the male 100 yards away from my plant. Bees, birds or mother nature can only pollinate your fems. Ya dont want this at all, in less your making seeds. If thats what you have in mind, just move the male down wind. Also very far away and then when you see pollen sacks put a wet bag around it and then just sorta bang around the sack to collect pollen. When the female is ready, put the bag around a lower branch and tap the bag. This will pollinate the buds and you will get seeds. Just use a bread tie for the open end of the bag so you only pollinate the desired branch. Leave till dry then take off gently and discard ![]() Also, re-pot, re-pot! I grow in pots and 1 plant can need 4 re-pots. As far as size is concerned, 50% below the dirt (roots) and 50% above the soil, your plant. Thats how your plants will grow. Also, why a plant needs re-potting. I think with the number of plants, id think about putting a few in the ground to give yourself more time with the potted plants

Yeah i just as well figured, i gotta get some pictures of my *ugly girl*, like if this plant were a woman, she got beat with the ugly stick. Although i think mother nature topped it for me, lol... theres 4 main branches shooting out of the top.
So down to figures, out of the 9 - 6 are girls . I chopped the last boy this morning.. the chances that they actually produced and spread pollen before this are slim to none, i moved them at first sign of pods at the nodes. So i was wondering, when transplanting, is it best to get the entire root system moved intact? Or is it only neccessary to just get the main root ball. The plant i have in the largest pot lost alot of its auxillary roots when i transplanted yesterday, but is already taking back to the sun and growing today. anyways, im going to be doing a flush tomorrow and then start them on my bloom nutes (Open sesame & Tiger bloom*) Wish me luck!

Don't worry about being rough when repotting, I did mine and really had to push down on the roots on the side of the pot and it showed no visible harm , I really regret not putting her in the ground though ,I thought if it gets too cold I'll be able to move her in or if its shaded I can move my plant around into the sun but as soon as flowering started it was impossible to move it.
I also don't think you've got anything to worry about with cold , I'm in the UK and am going until mid november probably ,so I'd swap with you any day. Good Growin. |

you will probly need to take them inside nightly as it gets into late nov as though it does not frost until december (not freeze) but there does get surface frost it does get too cold for too long over night, day temps should be fine, maybe an occasional cool day

as promised took me a bit longer than i expected to build this in my program but it came out pretty good its the same dimensions you originally stated 7x5x7 feet and a 6 foot tall by 2.5 feet wide door. materials list to follow. best this is you can use a variety of dif methods to attach the plastic, you could use velcro for the door or a tarp zipper. if you are interested let me know ill throw in some ideas anytime.

17- 10' 1" schedule 40 pvc pipe (2.06 apiece) 12- 1" schedule 40 tees (.59 apiece) 10- 1" schedule 40 3-way corner t's (around 2.35 apiece) 2- 1" schedule 40 elbows (.48 apiece) if you want it to stay together forever get some pvc cement to and you can glue it altoghether and that shit will never come apart or rot. if you want all the exact dimensions let me know so you can cut the pipes all the right size. this doesnt include any of the outside this is just the frame the plastic and however you decide to attach it to the frame is differant and is very simple. anywho the total cost of the frame is only $66.57. all the stuff except the 3-way t's can be purchased at home depot for the prices i listed. GOOD LUCK!!! let me know whats up. you can get the 3-way corner tees on ebay. -secret

ITS COLD IN FLORIDA???
Yeah i was thinking about going with attitude bank as well, ive seen alot of good reviews from everyone about them.
So yeah its supposed to drop down to low 30's tonight a freak of nature cold front is moving through. but then itll be back up into the high 70's on monday (praying that weather forecasts are somewhat accurate). Should i be worried about covering my plants for the night? Or just let them tough it out. My blood is way too thin for this weather.. lame ![]() ![]() Anyone got an idea lemme know! |

I just checked your forecast, looks like a low in the mid-40's for your area. Your girls should be fine uncovered in OK FL!. Good luck.
