Hello! I'm new to this forum - MMJ patient of 2 years for nasty sciatica. Is anyone aware of "imposter" or plants that look ridiculously similar to cannabis that are native to the Colorado foothills? Hubby and I noticed plants growing above treeline that look like very low-growing cannabis, but considering that the 14er trail we were on was COVERED in the stuff, I doubt sincerely it was actually cannabis.
I ask this question because as I was weeding (yes really) our yard last weekend I stumbled upon several plants that looked very much like cannabis... It is entirely possible someone gave us a gift without telling us. I have never seen plants like this in our 10+ years of living in our area. I have attached photos of the dug-up plants that I have rescued. Looking at photos of plants online, though, these plants seem very spindley and stalkey. Granted, I know that most plant photos will be of well-cared for girls grown in ideal conditions... these plants sprouted in decomposed granite with a little topsoil in mostly shade at over 8000ft elevation, so my little bit of gardening knowledge indicates the plants may indeed be spindley from bad conditions. My guess is that the seeds were put out about a month ago when we had a party at our place. I have IDed two girls and two boys. I chopped off the boys' flowers to prevent pollination, and stuck everybody in pots with compost.
Ironically, I have considered growing some plants to juice the leaves and have some bud for my sciatica. Did some wonderful friend get us started for us??
Please help me positively ID these plants. I hope they are what I think they are!
