Was it an accident or are you going to feed it to the cat?

i give her male plants.. but this is only after she went up to it herself and starting nibbling on the leaves. She loves it and finishes off the entire plant in a couple weeks (leaves that is). It doesnt seem to affect her.. she hasnt been sick or anything.. i know cats usually need some kind of green in their diet but i was just wondering if this might harm her in the long run.

Well we have a policy of not talking about getting animals high but this thread is skirting the edge as it is more of a health question. For now it will stay open but it's close.

Leaves don't produce much if any THC and there needs to be more than eating raw marijuana but we are talking about the brain of a cat which I imagine doesn't need as much as a human. Why can't you secure your plants whether by height or closing a room off so the cat doesn't get a chance? From owning to watching other people's cats I rarely see them eat any houseplant whether they can get to them or not.

As a veterinary tech I would ask you this......would you let your two year old child munch on them? No? Why not? They're most likely not harmful.

Then I wouldn't give them to ANY sort of pet either.

I have 3 cats and the one in the pic below has eaten seedlings before but I wouldn't give them to him to eat, my cats seem to investigate any plant life that is brought into the house to see if it is edible.

I was just glad they were swagseeds and not dank.

and now I have a grow room and they cant even get in there so thats great.

Well, its not like shes eating BUDS, i mean that would be crazy. But i wouldnt think eating the leaves would be that harmful. It seems to help her digestion, she doesnt cough up hair balls as much... even if i wanted to stop her i couldnt, i cant get her away from the stuff. the leaves themselves arent poisonous, so i really dont see the problem...

If your pet is eating plants, you might consider taking it to the vet for a stool check for worms. Animals that are normally carnivorous often eat vegetable material as a sign that they have intestinal parasites.

Beyond that, please do not feed your pets any part of the cannabis plant, or discuss it here, thanks.

Cannabis is a very nutritional plant, i cannot see how it could even inflict harm on ANY living creature.

the seeds, i know, are a great source of protien and fiber, and i believe essential amino acids. the plant, sprouting from the seed, cant be any less beneficial.

chances are your cat is fine, and you have nothing to worry about.

Cannabis is NOT A DRUG.

it is an herb, much like oregano, or thyme. it is a FOOD!!!

thanks for your input stoner shadow =) at least you dont think im a pet abuser right?
i just hate that all i got from this thread (except for shadows) is negativity.. like trying to make me feel like im harming my pet on purpose. thats not very cool especially if you dont have proof to back it up. comparing force feeding a kid cannabis plants vs my situation was somewhat insulting and in very poor taste.

Yeah dude, it's only leaves. My cat nibbles on the lawn and other soft leaves all the time. So do my dogs. I think it's just a way for them to get roughage in their diet. I wouldn't worry about it.
