Boytritus is still spreading:(

Hi guys, I posted this as a Reply to my original post (in newbie plant problems), but didnt get any activity on it and was not sure if the forum would alert anyone I had responded or if I needed to do a new post. Please forgive the repetition of info as I learn to use your forums

Heres the new problem, or the continuing old problem...
I think it is boytritus.
It forms at the branch node - grey and fuzzy and goes INTO the stem - bruises the stem until it is so weak it must be removed.
My previous experience with B was actually ON the almost ready buds in '07; I identified it as Boytritus because of the telltale wee bud leaves suddenly drying up and alerting me - dug into the '07 bud, it was slimy - so I rid the garden of the diseased part of the plant, sterilized everything and was able to save most of her.

This '08 the blight seems to focus on the stems/nodes.
I have used Seranade and Neem and though it has slowed the blight, I have now found "B" on the branch node of another plant.

Another weird thing, the "host plant" (who got the B first and has now passed it on to my other plant) has periodic funny colored leaves - like copper color advancing to yellow, green veins, then keel over dead. This doesnt seem to follow any kind of a pattern, all leaves at all levels seem to be susceptible. None of my other plants have this weird coloring...
IS THERE A GOOD ALL AROUND FOOD THAT IS ORGANIC AND HAS THE EASE AND COMPLETENESS OF MIRACLE GROW? I know MG says they have an "organic mix" but...?

For the Boytritus, can I use either Seranade or Neem systemically in the water for the plants in question? Or SM90 in the water? Or...?
Topical isnt killing it though I must say again - it sure as heck as s-l-o-w-e-d it.
We have fog here - blistering hot in the day - FOG at night.

Last question - I have a plant I thought was Indica - really really realllllllly bushy & shaggy looking - thick leaves and mostly 3 leaves on each plant hand as opposed to 5, like nothing I have seen before. Someone told me the 3 leaves are due to the plant focusing on flowering - but the plant has always had a 3 leaf output.

Now the plant is producing 1 to 3 new leaves each hand. AND it is so dang bushy that inner core leaves are keeling over dead, soft and easy to pull from the main stems and wilty yellow or brown.
This plant, from a seed, has been flirting with early flowering since early June (She sprouted in March). She's smelly, and now looks like she is sincerly gonna flower, but the leaves dropping away in all areas of the plant is freaking me out. All her leaves are kinda dull, dry and not very vibrant. I do regular leaching
(about every 3 weeks due to our way salty hard water), have been using a good seaweed and fish emulsion mix - with periodic chicken poo shakes. Now that she is looking kinda hairy and fuzzy with thc I have switched to bat guano milk shake. I did a course of Miracle Grow to see if she perked up and she did - but is still dropping leaves. I have also leached and just let her alone thinking I did too much of something - but same results...
Any ideas, o ones-that-know-way-more-about-this-than-I-do?
THANK YOU~

If it's continous you most likely will have to clean and disinfect ALL your equipment, rooms, walls etc etc etc.

Try for some more mold resistant strains and I'd certainly restudy and consider rehauling your growing program is because your plants should be much more resistant to disease as a rule if you are growing happy, healthy plants in a good enviroment.

Make sure to keep your humidity BELOW 40%.

I would love to access your site, but I cant get into it. I outdoor container grow and must be extremely respectful and discrete...incredibly funky and ever changing weather so I am doing the best I can. I will try for some pics and send them on. Thank you~

Hmm....definitely limits what you can control......bummer....sounds like you've been working on this for awhile.

What's the general humidity in your area? Wet conditions really helps things along sorry to say.

Again....consider a "mold-resistant" strain if you can't get things under control. Certainly better than losing your crop again and again.

Which strains are mold-resistant you ask?

I'm sorry but I don't know. Give it a google or post a new thread asking.....if someone knows they'll tell you.

good luck.

By posting in Southern Cali you have limited yourself to replies from people who actually read that section... which is only a small percentage of members. I've moved it to problems where it belongs. If you check IC, HeadyPete and MyNameStitch are going to be your best bets for troubleshooting. They are both quite intuitive and experienced. This site can sometimes take a bit longer, since there are fewer of us, but the quality of advice is IMVHO actually more consistent here. You are less likely to get misleading or simply wrong answers from noobs- those get deleted if they are totally off the wall, lol!

Yes, Serenade makes an effective soil drench. It is not technically a systemic, as it is a live bacterial culture and cannot be taken up into the roots, but inoculating the soil is never a bad call. If you have grey mold, other rots are likely since they thrive in a warm, humid environment.
You need a dehimidifier in your grow space; if outdoors, you need a breezy location and a mold-resistant strain bred for humid climates. Try Federation's Sweet Island Skunk also known as Island Sweet Skunk or ISS. It should be available at dispensaries in clone form too.

Now for why your plants are so sick. You say salty water? Ding!!! Nute lockout leads to poor health and necrosis, which is then vulnerable to disease. Mold will affect unhealthy or dead tissue first.

It also sounds like your organics regime needs some consistency. Start with your water. If it is salty, you can't use it. Even with leaching, that is going to cause problems. Plus every 3 weeks is too infrequent if you know your water is problematic. Try adding a chelator to your nutes; the Canna Bio has a high level of organic acids which will aid in flushing out unwanted salts, and it is organic. I would approach it by letting the pots get fairly dry, then giving a watering so heavy as to force liquid out the drain holes, EVERY TIME. And find a better water source.

MG Organic Choice is okay if you add ~30% perlite to it and treat it like a soilless mix similar to promix, but with much more fertilizer in it. Somewhere between promix and ocean forest. Read the why should I re-pot thread in the FAQs. Composted humus with perlite is also good, and in your case, I think that the naturally occurring humic acids will be beneficial to your overall situation.

Can you post up pics and fill out the troubleshooting form so we have all your info? Such as, how high is the ppm of your source water? How and at what point do you check and adjust the pH?
