I had this happen to me once. I tried several different things, cal mag, Epsom salt, but I think the problem was inconsistent watering. I don't think the lower roots were getting enough water. As soon as I upped my water amount the problem went away. I don't give enough to cause runoff but I do like to see some condensation at the bottom of the pot.

i dont think its from watering. i give each plant enough water to see about 20-30% runoff. then water again when the soil get pretty dry but not completely. i do this to collect the runoff for testing to make sure my soil ph stays stable.

    any other suggetstions?

Kinda looks like light bleaching from here, but hard to see with the pics under the hps.

Also, I would transplant soon into a 5 gallon container. 3 gals are too small for plants from seed. Also your ph going in is 6.5, coming out is 6, so the ph of the soil is less than 6. Could see some lockout soon.

that makes more sense to me
i had em at 3gallons because the lime in the mix i have wears out about 6 weeks in. theyve only been in these bags for about a week and was going to add 2 more gallons to the bottom to fill em up all the way at that time. they were in solo cups before the transplant. would you recommend watering with a bit higher ph? like 7?

they are in their dark cycle now but if it would be more helpful i could take new pics under cfls when the lights come back on.

    thanks for the input guys

BTW if anyone would be so kind to stop by my grow log and give some feedback on how its going so far it would be greatly appreciated

    first grow-Nirvana Snow White- soil

to add one more thing....this happened right after i switched to 12/12. could that have anything to do with it?

Yeah try and get some pics with normal lighting.

Since you just transplanted from dixie cups to 3 gals they aren't rootbound and should have plenty of lime left, but I guess it really depends on how much lime you put there in the first place. Maybe in the meantime you can make another soil mix and test the run-off.

About your ph testing, do you have a digital pen or color coded strips/drops? If the water you test has any color it can throw off the test results.

Based on your last reply I still think it's light bleaching, but will wait for the pics when you get a chance. I don't see how switching to 12/12 had anything to do with it.

im using the test drops for ph. i always get particles of soil in the water but filter it out through a paper towel.

i put 2 tablespoons of lime per gallon of soil. i tested the ph in and out of the medium before transplanting just to make make tweaks if needed.
all was good though and the plants look great. no problems really except the top leaves yellowing. the light isnt even that close to the plants maybe 2 feet away. i read that you can have problems with bleaching if they are really close.

anyway ill put some pics up later tonight and well discuss it some more.
    thanks for dropping by

Possibly got a burn in the transplant process.... Maybe too many nutes...... Maybe light burn - but your light is not that close. I think I would just do nothing more than water at this point and see what happens....if it is damage it is already too late and doing a bunch of stuff can make it worse.

if it was nute burn would it only effect the top leaves? and its not every top leaf just that one and one of the newest leaves right next to it are starting to get it.

If it's not light burn or heat stress caused by a hot spot then I'm baffled... I think that nute burn would be more systematic and affect more than just a couple leaves in one area.

    Here's why I think it's light burn...

    Or heat stress...

Keep an eye on it, maybe move it to a different spot (if you haven't already) and see if it gets worse. I don't think it'll get better, but if it stays the same then nothing to worry about.

to me it deff. looks more like the leaves in the first pic you posted. i moved the plants around a bit but i have been having problems with heat.
Ive had two plants with leaves curling up like canoes but nothing too bad to where the leaves get crusty and change colors.
the plant in question has never had curling leaves or anything like that so idk,

i guess ill just keep and eye on it and if i notice anything more ill let you know
