Did I just kill a plant?

Ok so I had a plant about a foot tall in veg mode, and I want to make it a mother. Well, as its getting too tall, I cut the main stem off about 3 inches down from the top. You can actually see the inside of the plant.. "hollow tube". My question is, will this kill the plant? It looks like the branches are turning red, to a dark pigment. Anyone just cut off the main stalk before?

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'm thinking about it too much, but is it bad for light to go into the hollow now exposed tube? Should I cover it up? The diameter of the opened space is maybe half a cm. You could probably stick a tooth pick all the way into it... to give you an idea.

Duct tape my friend. Seal the hole up with tape to make sure no pests or fungi decide to settle in. You can also use duct tape to repair broken limbs, it works great!

Don't be surprise, many indica dominants have hollow stems. You do not want air getting in there as it will dry out and damage the plant. Find a way to seal it up. Next time don't top her so severely!
