I voted early, and I voted often --- a dozen times already today!
Just joking! I just got back from the polls (my one and only time). Cast my ballot for Obama and went mostly Democratic for the down-ticket statewide races, although I went against party recommendations for a few initiatives, one judge, and some other local stuff. I took my "I voted" sticker to Starbucks and got a free coffee. I hear I can also get a Ben and Jerry's ice cream and a Krispy Kreme doughnut! I just need to figure out where --- I think the closest Krispy Kreme is probably 25 miles away, so driving there would make it a 6-dollar doughnut in round trip gas, which maybe is not the best deal. What else can I get for this thing?

I just got done checking, and all the free deals are too far away, dammit! I got my free coffee, but I'm not driving 12 miles for a doughnut or over 20 for an ice cream cone! This signals the end of our democracy, I fear....
I'm also a little disappointed in the lack of hoopla at my own polling place. I keep seeing pictures on the news of lines going around the buildings with hundreds of excited voters waiting for their turn, but at my polling place there was no line at all. All the booths were full, but I just had to wait behind one other guy. I want to be part of the tidal wave! I asked the poll workers about turnout, and they said they had over 100 people in the first hour, so that is pretty impressive for this suburban location. But it settled down by the time most people had to be at work.

I voted this Morning and I only waited for 10 minutes, arrived early at work. Could've been faster if I wanted to use the paper ballot but screw that.
I'm lucky I didn't experience any of those long waits!

I voted at about 6:30 this morning, and the line was already out the door and around the building when I got there at 6:05. It did move rather quickly though, and I got to jump to the front when they announced that the longer line was for the other, more populous precinct that was voting at the same place my precinct was voting at, and that there was a second line that nobody was lined up at... lol

yes i did! first time in 16 years.
i voted for John McCain and my State was the first that they called for him . . . but either way i believe we will end up with a good pres.![]() . . . as i finished up my ballot (which kinda looked more like one of those database diagrams but . . .) i colored in my ballot, scanned it in and one of the really sweet ladies there asked me what my number was, i read 319 and she said "oh, that is good". it took me a sec realize that i was the 319th voter that day at 2:00 p.m. and that was a good turnout. at first i thought maybe they scored my ballot or something the last time i voted was in los angeles and they were really friendly there too.

If everyone quits voting eventually they will try to take it away. Then we will really be screwed.

Ha ha! I was a little puzzled because it was a nice message and a smiley, but a little red square! I figured it was a mistake. Don't worry about it, man. It's the thought that counts. Good on you for voting!

I left the president part blank...I only voted at the state level...Maybe if I had more options I would've voted for president..But we all know how democracy works..
![]() as far as I'm concerned, the presidential ballot in november should be the same as the primary ballot..fuck this shit about a handful of people choosing for me who I'm going to get to vote for in november..this is bullshit

Washington, OK, he was the prototype, the man who led the fight on the battlefield to break the USA away from Great Britain; Lincoln did what he thought he needed to do to preserve the USA, even though he started many of the problems that plague us yet today - centralization of power in D.C. being the main one; FDR did everything right? Hardly. If anything his policies caused the economy to limp along and stay mired in depression and then recession until the manufacturing engine of the USA was cranked up by WWII. FDR also further concentrated power in D.C. The individual state governments are now mere shells of what they are supposed to be.
