All politicians manipulate the press. They do it because the media is so stupid they believe everything they're told and don't bother doing any investigative journalism.

Of course they controlled the media coverage during the campaign. I assume they are still controlling the media coverage. I can't see why they'd stop after the election. All politicians try for that kind of control. Some are more successful than others. Obama's team is very successful.

The white house war on Fox news is more containment than anything. Clearly the numbers aren't going in Obama's direction ie....jobs created from stimulus, unemployment, Obamacare, polls or Iran. So they have to try and isolate Fox, and keep the other stations from running stories that originate there. How long did it take MSNBC,NYT, CBS, AND ABC to break the ACORN scandal or Van Jones debacle? The answer is 3 weeks. Pathetic at best. It's all about 2010 now. They can bash whoever they want, but it's on next year.

In regards to media in the middle east.....i was in Saudi Arabia for 3 weeks a few years back and was shocked at how evenly tilted Al Jazeera was straight up. They had some radicals no doubt, but an equal number on not insane people as well. The same for Al Jazeera America.......they are FAR MORE evenly tilted than say MSNBC who clearly get their anchors from same area as Ballon Boy is from.

As much as I dislike FOX atleast they're not being led around by the nose like the rest of the media. Of course they have there own agenda.

And thats totally fine and acceptable....it's people who believe that since they dont exactly see eye to eye with Fox, then it should be silenced altogether. Sadly, it turns out this entire administration consists of people who think like this. Latest is who this time....Anita Dunn, White House Communications Director giving praise to Chairman Mao, a man responsible for 60 million deaths? Everyday it's something new with these folks, but at the same time, i dont feel they should be silenced all together. I think MSNBC is FAR LEFT, but i dont feel it should be taken off the air cause all their anchors would blow Obama if they could. Except Maddow who would wanna arm wrestle the president.

Losing battles? Are you referring to the current Afghan theater? Sure, if the US doesnt reinforce our troops we are gonna have trouble. However with the Paki's pushing into Wazeristan, I think a well coordinated offensive led by Patreaus and McChrystal will kill many islamofascists which is terrific Im guessing it will only be a week or 2 before an additional 35,000 are shipped out since Def. Sec. Gates has now joined the bandwagon in urging a confused and bewildered Obama to finally make a choice already. Afghanistan is corrupt....always has been and always will be. I just hope they decide, I gotta see the Kyber Pass before I die.......on horseback.

The surge worked it in Iraq much to my own, and the liberal thoughts at the time.

My wife's stepdad is in Baghdad... deployed 3 times since 2003....a fuckin madman. He was there before the surge in the "sunni triangle", and has been since the surge. And we mopped the sandy floors with the Iranian resistance and Saudi backed fundies that were the heart and $$ of the violence in Iraq...now, as of last week....he was in a book club and they were smoking sheesha at a local cafe or some shit.
