Brownie Question.

Okay, this is my first time eating weed and I'm gunna cook a batch of brownies using a 1/4 ounce of pretty decent bud.
I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend as a good dose? I was thinking about eating a 1/7th of the final product (around grams worth)
Will this be enough?
Cheers

Hi seeit5

That's a pretty hefty dose per brownie (commercial 'space cakes' use about 0.2 to 0.3 grams each), it could be too much.

Do you have a particular method or recipe in mind?
The potency is generally a result of how you extract the THC, the type of oil, the temperature etc.

Thanks for your reply, Flameon. I plan on just heating cooking oil and the bud and then adding it to a brownie mix. I really have no idea on doses as all of the recipes I have read differ greatly.
There has to be enough for 5 people, which I hope works out okay.
Thanks again

No problem.

You've certainly got more than enough bud for five people.
As you say, the recipes differ greatly, but if there's one thing that everyone seems to agree on, it's that weed and brownies are a great combo!

Good luck and enjoy

yo dude!

i make brownies like that all the time.

a quarter o will be plenty. at first, eat about a 1 inch square to test its potency. remember..... when eating brownies, it can take as much as 2 hours to feel the effects.

many times, stupid people will eat a brownie.... not feel it, then hurry up and eat more. by the time the first one hit them, its more then enough....but they already ate another, and its practically hospital time.

it should be fine for 5 people.

remember..... use pretty high heat. the cannibus should at least be brown, maybe even burnt black after you mix it with oil and cook it.

and also....strain out the weed after you mingle it with oil. : ) i didnt see you mention that, thought you might just keep the bud and the oil together and throw it all in the mix. dont do that. strain out the bud after it cooks in the oil, but of course keep the oil.

remember....pretty high heat. get the oil moving and popping. dont low heat it, otherwise it wont work.

medium heat at least. i wouldnt go lower then a "6" on an electric oven.

high heat is the key to propper thc transfer. i know lot of people say low heat over extended cooking periods, but i found that to be patently untrue.

I dunno...

Weed and brownies can be a bad combo. I made some brownies, and they worked out ok, but when I was high, the only munchies around was the bag of brownies... I ended up VERY high that night.
So learn from my mistake. Start off slow, start off low. And bring plenty of food.

lol I'm with you 100% on that! Absolutely.

I've just got back from stocking up in preparation for this weekends session, and always keep the fridge full of microwaveable pizzas, burgers and chips, not to mention chocolate cake, vanilla slices, and cheese!

Steer clear of 'spicy' though when 'caked' (it's magnified 10x)!

If you decide to go down the 'high heat' route though, remember, once you go over 140 degrees Centigrade (285 F) your vapourising the THC (that's why the kitchen smells), so make it quick otherwise you'll lose potency.
If the strength of the end result is key, use more weed to compensate for the loss, or (the cheaper option) cook on a lower temperature for a little longer to avoid waste.

N.B. It still needs to be above 80 degrees centigrade (175 F) in order to melt the resin heads, so anywhere between the two is the optimum range.

P.S. Don't plan on going out and keep the remote control handy!!!
I once watched three hours of the shopping channel because I couldn't reach mine lol.

AHAHahahaha and i thought i was the only one to watch something completely what i dont plan to if the remote is out of reach and i just dont feel like even moving a little bit.

I was curious why these folks would use oil when most recipes use butter i thought. i suppose its a box rather than from scratch and maybe that is why.
I bumped this thread cause im making brownies today too. hopefully all goes well, and if u ever come back did your brownies turn out well?

Coconut oil (packaged recipes) and butter (from scratch recipes) are the best IMO as they are high in fat content - a key to cooking with cannabis.
