Yes, it will affect the potency as THC doesn't really convert to psychoactive until the drying/curing processes. I've heard of people freezing clipping to knock off some of the THC, but that's about as much as I know. If you look in the High Times May 2009 issue they have a killer recipe for brownies in there!

I just dry the leaves. Then I pop them into the blender to make "flour". Measure out how much "flour you want to use and put it in a small sauce pan. The "flour" is mixed with oil until it has a gravy-like consistency. I have a tiny 2 cup pan that works well for this. I heat the oil/cannabis mixture until it is too hot to keep a finger in it. Then I count to 10 and remove it from the heat and let cool. You don't want the temperature to get too high or you can break down the THC. Then just use the mix for the oil/butter in your recipe and add about 1 tablespoonful more.
So why do I do all that? Blenderizing, makes the particles smaller making it easier for the THC to mix into the oil. It also makes the texture of the baked goods better. Heating in oil, makes the THC get into the oil faster. The heat also will help begin to change the THCA (no high) into plain old THC. The adding a tablespoon extra, makes up for the displacement and absorption of the cannabis and puts back the missing amount of oil in your recipe while adding a bit more THC. Granny tips- Pick a recipe that uses a large amount of oil/butter! Put aside a bit of regular flour from your recipe. When you have added the oil mix to your recipe, put that bit of white flour into the pan that you heated the oil in. It will clump up the last of the oil, so you can get every last bit of the oil out of the pan. Just dump it back into the recipe. Much easier than scraping the pan! When I heat my oil, I mix spices in with it to change the odor and add more flavor to my baked goods. I like cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger. Enjoy! Granny

And she just might take up baking!
![]() Seriously, have you guys ever looked at my list? Cannabis is good for WAY more than just getting high! Many of the infirmities of getting older can be treated with cannabis. For example- diabetes is very common. Diabetic neuropathy can be numbness or pain in the hands and feet. Diabetes is a major cause of blindness and amputation in the elderly. If you had diabetes, what would you think after reading even just the titles of studies like these? Cannabinoid Reduces Incidence Of Diabetes Non-Psychoactive Cannabinoid Reduces Incidence Of Diabetes, Study Says - NORML Marijuana Compound May Help Stop Diabetic Retinopathy Marijuana Compound May Help Stop Diabetic Retinopathy Cannabidiol reduces the development of diabetes in an animal study IACM-Bulletin Getting Eye On Cannabinoids Getting Eye On Cannabinoids: The Hempire - [cannabis, hemp] Marijuana compound could prevent eye damage in diabetics Marijuana compound could prevent eye damage in diabetics: The Hempire - [cannabis, legalise] Beneficial effects of a Cannabis sativa extract on diabetes induced neuropathy and oxidative stress. Unbound MEDLINE | Beneficial effects of a Cannabis sativa extract treatment on diabetes-induced neuropathy and oxidative stress. Journal article Click a link in my sig. (The "old format" is more impressive) Alzheimer's, ALS, MS, cancer, arthritis, atherosclerosis, Crohn's and IBS, fibro, migraines and more- I have studies for all of them! All you gotta do is educate your Granny and maybe she'll share! Letting her know about it is the first step. (Stamps are still cheap, and the mail can be anonymous. )Since you are over 18, your parents are in their 40/50s, so Granny is about my age- have you ever thought about the fact that your Granny lived through the 60s and 70s- hippies, peace, love and pot and all that jazz? She might be more receptive than you think! And if there is a medical reason......(And I bake at least 3 weekends out of 4) Granny
