Hypothetical question about MMJ
Say there was someone in a state bordering Rhode Island that suffered from chronic backpain and constant migranes after being hit by a car that has been getting treatment for the past 6 months without all that much improvement. Would this person need to be a permanent resident of Rhode Island to be able to get a card from a doctor or could he or she just make regular trips out there?

Since, I don't believe any states bordering Massachusetts have a MMJ law. The answer is you're out of luck as one needs to be a legal resident of RI. The good thing about RI's MMJ law is that if you have a MMJ card from a state that allows it and you are in the RI area then you can go to one of the new compassion centers and legally purchase your Meds !!

it says on paper its a qualifying disease, so the only difference is me taking the drive to california? why not skip that step and just get the card in Rhode Island? these medical laws are sure as hell confusing.. |

Hey there, We can not supply medical cannabis to people from other states through a dispensary. Their cards are respected in Rhode Island so if you come from cali and you have medicine on you and your card you are protected by RI state law. But because you are not part of the RI medical cannabis program you can not add me(the Dispensary) as a caregiver. Also our RIcards will not protect us from other states that have or do not have medical cannabis programs.

Our governor (Rell) really sucks in my opinion. She originally killed the medical marijuana bill here because she said there were no places to legally buy marijuana so the bill would encourage people to break the law by buying marijuana illegally. Sounds like a horrible excuse to me, sorry, ranting. I wish more states would follow suit. Marijuana being illegal to me makes me feel as though I'm living in a time long ago where my own personal liberty's are forbidden. I wonder if I'm making any sense.
