For everyone looking for Dr's in RI.....

Hey everyone, I just wanted to post the reality of finding a Dr. in RI to make the proper reccomendation you are seeking. If you DO NOT have a condition that qualifies for getting a card, but you know a Dr that is willing to sign it, your all set. If you DO have a condition that qualifies, depending on what the condition is, you can go to ANY doctor. I suggest you go to your Primary Care physician first, and talk about it with him/her. If you have "depression" or "Anxiety" (like everyone in the USA) and can prove it with medical records, you may have a chance.... you just need to find the right doctor. That is the hardest part, because most Dr's are not just gonna write out a reccomendation for marijuana unless you have cancer or HIV or something like that. Most of the doctors in RI dont even know about the law, nevermind the NEW laws that have been passed. If you find a doctor who is willing to consider it, he/she wil just want to meet with you a few times to get a feel for you, then you should be all set. If you are just trying to get a card, and your a dumb stoner, forget about it, its not happening. We will have our first compassion center opening in 2010. Also, its not just RI Dr's can reccomend.... CT and MA doctors can reccomend to RI residents now under the new law. Good luck

RI Docs and an MMJ Card

Jayfury:

Thanks for the heads up I just recently decided to try MM and lo and behold it helped much to my amazement. I must be worse off than even I thought. I now have to find an MD who is wiling to think outside the box and I hope for the best.
If anyone can offer any insights to a new person I would greatly appreciate it, anything at all would help especially laws pertaining to supply stocks and a breakdown of what is what and allowed. The only way I would think of doing this it has to be 100% legal and above board, as I have children it can not be anywhere near them and I would welcome all info or ideas.
I also need info about what a caregiver is allowed so I do not step in any *@#t.

no dentists

only accredited physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. Psychiatrists, physiatrists, and doctors of osteopathy can.
nurses, resident physicians, psychologists, radiography specialists, dentists, clinicians, doctors of physical therapy, certain occupational surgeons (like liposuction clinics), nutritionists and veterinarians cannot.
