ive had backpain off and on for years but recently i started getting sciatic pain and it hasnt gone away past 6+ months.

i recently had a MRI and this was his impression

1. L4-5 rightward disc herniation with extruded disc fragment extending into the right L5 lateral recess with moderate central stenosis

2. bulge/protrusion at L3-4 centrally with annular tear and mild central stenosis

3. milder lumbar discogenic change otherwise

4. foraminal narrowing as delineated

5. diminished height of L5 posteriorly, however, no discrete spondylolysis is identifeied on this study

i dont really know what any of this means but it hurts. am i eligible for MMJ in RI? if so any advice on meetings or somewhere i could find a doc to reccomend it for me

I don’t know what is MRI, MMJ or RI, I only understand four out the five bulleted paragraphs, and I answer you because you have not had any other answer up to now.

I thing you are having big column problems, that is not sciatic pain related.

1. Says that you have a hernia on your lumbar column region, 4th and 5th vertebras. There is a disc between every pair of vertebras, and the cartilage disc between these two is broken (not only a fissure, crack or split). A fragment of the disc is out of place (“extruded disc fragment”).
2. The disc between the 3rd and 4th lumbar vertebras is starting to follow the same way (“annular tear”), but still not yet as bad
3. Mild disc changes
4. (I don’t know what it exactly is)
5. Lumbar vertebra #5 shrunk on it height at front, but no spondylosis has been found.

It seems that you have a real problem with your column. It is very dangerous because not only it must give horrible pain you can be partially paralysed. Along the column runs the spinal medulla, a branch from the brain that controls the muscles and movement if it breaks because with a more or less displacement of the vertebras you can have a part of your body paralysed, the portion below the vertebra where the breakage occurs. The lower members are usually the most probable because they are the lowest part of the body.

A surgical operation to repair the affected vertebras and discs sometimes solves the problem, depending on how bad it is. You should see an orthopaedist doctor at once.
