Well idk about RI but in CA it's a LOT easier to get MMJ card.

I hear RI only does chronic illness and chronic backpain and stuff like that, but you could try.

Just don't go in there like some pothead and be like "Hey man, can you get me some legal grass?"

find the right dr. and you may need to prove that other medications you tried never worked..you are in constant pain and there is no solution.

it also helps if you can prove the benefits outweigh the detriments to smoking (i.e. tar / whatever happens to your lungs or what society believes happens to them) tell the dr. you will be using a vaporizer and explain that you wont be "smoking" it... a vaporization fact sheet may help convince the dr. if your pain is that bad and he wasnt open about the idea in the first place...

I have heard that doctors who specialize in alternative medicines or specialized pain / problem areas may be more helpful

remember..ri isn't Cali yet...you do need valid reasons, read the law to determine if your medical problem falls under the guidelines..the rest if up to you

If you are not a resident of a state who adopts the medical marijuana policy, is there any other way of legally acquiring MMJ?

Go to www.ripatients.org. they have a ton of information about obtaining a license and a list of docs that are on board with the mmp. they're a great resource
i have an unsual nerve condition in my chest and it did not fall under the conditions listed, however, my dr. was able to explain the condition and i got my card no problem. there is a group called RIPAC and they have regional meetings around the state. I head up the one for south county but any patient or caregiver with a card is welcome to attend. Contact RIPAC (ripatients.org) and they can put you in touch with me. My meetings are about information sharing, discussion, and basically just what ever we want to talk about, no agenda because i feel that no plans ever last, roll with the tide and let it take you and you'll eventually find where you want to be.
