How many different strains are there?
Which has the highest THC?
Has anyone tried every strain?
Thousands of crosses, 3 main kinds and the number of crosses changes daily.
There are many variables here. your question is not answerable as posed.
It's impossible to keep track. Take seedfinder.eu strain database. It deals mostly with strains in Europe. Years ago there was over 5 thousand strains, then over 9,000, then at some point the website was modified so that it would only show how many strains by the alphabet. -That is you had to drill down to strains starting with "A" to see how many strains started with the letter "A", but they changed it back and now the website gives, on the home page, 12,200 different strains.
That's hardly a complete list even for Europe. In the good 'old USA some *dispensaries grow their own marijuana and many create their own strain, both for brand recognition and to compete in contests. Also, dispensaries will often rename strains. Usually not the top strains, which customers ask for by name, but lesser known strains. They do this for a variety of reasons. Examples might be to highlight where the strain was grown, or make it more descriptive based on it's intended effect. -especially useful for people purchasing for medical reasons.
*Some states, notably Colarodo, dispensaries are required to grow a certain percentage of the marijuana they sell. Or at least they used to. I don't keep up with state laws: too many states have some level of medical or recreational use laws.
