Okay guys, you’ve read about my set up here. http://boards.cannabis.com/threads/tent-is-almost-complete.226096/
Today is the day I pick up the rest of my gear. I still need a hygrometer, and a moisture meter. Also a real PH meter. I’ve got the PH sticks coming out of my ears and I have DPD pillows to last a lifetime. I still need another set of adjustable ropes for the other homemade lamp and eventually some 3 and 5 gallon pots. Hopefully by tonight, I will have planted my first white widow (fem) and Bubblegum (fem). I will post a pic tonight.
    Let the grow begin.

Okay. So I spent 2 hours making final preparations and tinkering with a brand new Ph meter and comparing it to my PH sticks that we keep in the lab at work. The little paper sticks are great for a backup when your learning a new piece of lab equipment. I highly recommend using them for your grows. Anyway. My water is a bit high so I adjusted it down to around 6.6. I’ve planted one white widow fem and one Bubblegum fem. I covered the cups to try and keep them moist. I’ll be checking them every 12 hours and will remove the cover once they peek out of the FF OF.
    So here we go.

Yes Sir. I’m trying to get the temps up right now. Shut off the outside air because it’s still cold. I’ve got it up to 77 now. It’s climbing.

18 hours into germination. So far so good. Temps at 82F, 34%RH. I gave them a spritzy spray of water this morning. Just to wet the surface. Nothing frog strangling. Peeking at the girls through a hole in the tent..... It’s a M*A*S*H thing.

3 to 5 days is normal, but can go several days sometimes; if planted too deep or soil too compacted.

(I had one seed go two weeks) :D

When I was growing outdoors in Louisiana it took a week sometimes.

Sample of my PH sticks. Love these things. We get them from the lab to test our water processes on site. After the test, the rest of the box just get thrown away or crammed in a desk drawer.
This is the result of my bottle of spray water. Some of it is runoff from the cups’ initial watering, filtered through a coffee filter.

Well. After much debate and struggle with trying to keep temperatures above 76 degrees plus my light meter indicating that the little homemade light bar wasn’t putting out enough light, I decided to move them up under the COB. The temperatures seem to be much warmer under there according to the thermometers. The max bloom is adjusted to 65% in VEG and the distance is about 9.5-10.0” above the rim of the cups. Temps now averaging 79-86 degreesF

That should take care of making the temperature suitable for germination, but once sprouted you may need more distance from the LED light. My lights aren't dimmable and I've found that I need to put some distance between them and young seedlings. Your particular light may allow you to dim it enough though. Good luck.

My thoughts too. I’m just waiting for them to poke out of the soil then I’m going to reassess. Fortunately the vent system regulates fan speed by temperature inside the tent. You can see the temp probe in my previous post about my tent. You can also see it in the above picture hanging down between the cups. The probe is attached to the computer board that controls the fan speeds. It’s a very nice system for the price.

LMAO. I just noticed in the OP that I mentioned a hygrometer and a moisture meter as two separate items....
Yeah, I can be a dingbat on occasion. Geesh. Idiot award accepted.

What I meant to say was a lumen/light meter. Don’t know what they are called.
After everything was set up, I realized that’s the only thing I’m gonna have to get another of. I guess I lost my old one I used to use for SLR 35mm photography. It’s not in my camera bag anyway. Damn shame. It was an expensive one. Probably not the same as what would need for “greenhouse” applications though.
Oh yeah. I forgot to update you guys on yesterday. I love tomatoes in my salads so I picked up a couple of cherry tomato plants at a nursery yesterday for a buck a piece. Poor little things. They looked pretty scruffy. Took them home and put them in a bigger pot and they look much better today. I turned the other lights back on and put them under it.
Don’t have pics of them today but I got a pic of them from yesterday. Can’t post it though.

Checked on the girls before bed. BB is fully open now. WW is cute as a button. And the two tomato plants look a hell of a lot better tonight. AD6B2178-8DA9-4DF6-A04E-5AB161C3DC55.jpeg

Yes Sir. It’s pretty warm in there. The fan is set to around 85 F and will kick to full speed at 87. The outer room right now is 76 so the lights inside the tent definitely keep it warm.
