Is it normal that my plants have 4" tall stems before the cotledons and 1st leaves? The stems are really strong and straight and aren't bent at all but want to know if I'm doing anything wrong?

    Any help appreciated.

I put a seed in cup under a 100w regular light bulb in the closet and a few days later it was a foot tall (can't believe it was standing), trying to reach the bulb. 50 years ago.
