Work around for those having trouble posting threads

There seems to be a problem right now for some of us...

I have found a workaround on my WIN10 computers:

Go to your settings/preferences and unclick the Rich Text Editor.

You will get a very basic box to edit your messages into. All of the fancy editor features are gone, but it will work. When you send your message/reply/PM.... you will get an error. Ignore the error. Your message posted.

Here's hoping they get this repaired quickly...

Another workaround is to click reply on a message you are responding to, and then after finding you have no edit box, hit send anyway. Immediately refresh your screen and see that the message did in fact post. You have a short time, like 8 minutes, to go back and edit your actual response into this already created message. It's ugly, but it works.

    I still have no problems.
Might be because I use Windows 7.

Thanks! I was about to hang it up...

I haven't looked into what was updated on my computer, but noticed this issue after Windows performed an update. This laptop is running Vista 64 SP2, w/Firefox.

No problems other than here, though. o_O
I hadn't considered that the issue was at their end. Dunno what others are seeing, but it's as though scripts aren't executing, or something. On the log in, I no longer get a drop down animation. Now, clicking log in will bring up another page.

<shrug> At least I know I'm not alone.

Yeah, I get that too on WIN 10 Pro when I try to log in from the main forums list page. When I log in from the recent posts page, it works as it did before.o_O Anybody seen MB? ;)

He hasn't logged in for a couple weeks, (Feb 12th), but Angie is on it.
She seems to be the only active staff member lately.

It's looking like W-10 did an update that "broke" javascript.
    That, or flashplayer.
Win 10 gave me grief from day one. The beta was horrible.
I opted to stay with 7 for a while because it's rock solid..
Turned out to be a good idea.
    :)

Yeah, me too. And I only have this little problem here at can.com, no issues elsewhere with WIN 10.

Gotta be a board update then.
The board updates try to accommodate touch screen, and tapatalk users.
CK got updated, and the photo handling got squirrely.
At least it didn't break the legacy stuff here, yet.
And they might issue an update to the update to fix this. :)

Interesting. The issue encompasses the entire site, for me. I haven't tried the other computers in the house. I'll have to give it a go.
The gaming rig runs Windows 10. So, I probably won't get any joy, there. :(
I can't remember what's on the older one, though! (Maybe I'll get lucky with that one) It may be Windows 7, if it ain't Vista. :D

Hmm, did they fix it in the last hour?
Posting from the Windows 10 box, and all is workin' flawlessly. (laptop on Vista...still borked)
No point in checking the other box, it's off the network dedicated to a job, it'd be a pita to do. ;)

Gonna roll back the laptop later and see if it goes away.
I use the laptop 99% of the time... :eyesroll:

MS seems to spreading the love in varying degrees. I'm going to do as you suggested and back away from the last "update", if that's even possible.
It looks like an update to the .net framework may be the culprit, everything else just looks like the usual crap.

It was worth a shot. Uninstalling the updates from 2/28 had no effect. Looks like a wait and see what happens sorta thing.

<edit> ...and apologies for the monologue. :D
