Vapor disappointment

I bought an Arizer Extreme after reading lots of reviews. My first Vape was a no-name box type I got off Ebay for $30.I liked the clean high, but I was otherwise disappointed and thought perhaps a better Vape would do the trick.I am not happy.I double grind my product,& one demi-tasse spoon gives me enough to roll a thin joint.Generally, I will smoke about 2/3rds of the joint, and a couple hours later finish it off. With the Vape, I can load 3 demi-tasse spoons into the bowl, let it heat up to 230 C and suck away till it turns dark brown.I get a better high from smoking, it lasts longer, and uses much less product. I really like the premise behind a vaporizer, but in practice I don't much care for them.I smoked pot as near to daily as I could for 25 years, quit another 20 years, and recently began again to use it for mitigation of arthritis pain. The vaporizer is harder on my throat than a joint or bong, and seems to require a lot of effort to use.I know, how hard is it to suck on a hose, but I find myself sticking to joints and one hit pipes as my proffered method of medication. I have watched several videos and cannot tell that I am doing anything wrong. I have tried different heat ranges, but nothing seem to work.I can successfuly medicate with a couple of hits on a pipe, but with the vaporizer I must suck for 10-15 minutes to achieve the same level of medication.I am very disappointed in this method of ingestion.Your comments are welcome.

doesn't the extreme have a 3-speed fan so you don't have to suck?

and the temp seems a bit high. i know you said you tried different settings. 230C is 446F. this is very high. THC starts to cook at around 350F i believe.

try a google search like this:

"extreme vaporizer site:cannabis.com"

without the quotes. this will search for extreme vaproizer only on cannabis.com. i've read nothing but good reviews about the extreme.

do you ever do ballons? if so are they clear? can you see the vapor?

i'm sure someone will chime in with a bit more help.

good vaping!

Defective??

I guess it can vary from brand, but it seems a bit odd to be sucking for long periods of time in order to get the vapor. We've recently starting vaporizing and I prefer it rather than smoking from a pipe, I love the occasional joint though.

I'm using a Silver Surfer Vapor, usually takes 3-5 minutes to heat up, I usually have it to the highest setting. There are times when I feel like I haven't gotten any smoke, but I'll blame that on not adding enough green. I feel like I get way more baked in this form, last longer, and I would say yes you use more product but its better for you in the long run. Smoking from pipes was really messing with my girlfriends lungs!! Usually after sucking for at least 45 seconds, I have a big cloud of vapor when released. Maybe your vaporizer is defective?? Does it have a warranty??

Wink The following is a solicited opinion.

Aloha, Mapletree.

My experience parallels yours.

Something important is missing with a vaporizer.

Thought it might be a concentration issue.

So, I had some buds with powdery mildew and did not want to risk smoking them.
(The untainted buds are superb.)
Chopped up about an ounce of frosty buds and washed them with isopropyl alcohol.
Decanted and evaporated the alcohol and got some dark green muck.

I had saved the spent, brown poo from the vaporizer in a jar. Now I used it to absorb da muck.
Got 4 grams of crumbly concentrate.
Vaped about 1.5 grams.

Same old same old.

Something is missing!

Quite disappointing.
Thanks for saving me the cost of a "better" vaporizer, brah.

Mahalo,
Weezard.

I've talked to a lot of people about this, and some people just don't react to a vape as well as smoking, I just recently got a vaporizer for health reasons, I was coughing up blood, and didn't figure smoke would help the condition. I personally find the vape to be pleasant, with a good body high, and not so much couchlock like I get from a joint, pipe, or bong, I still pack the occasional pipeload when I'm having severe anxiety, and can't spar the 5 minutes it takes to set up and warm up the vape, but I now can taste the lighter fluid when I spark up, and it kind of kills smoking for me as a pleasurable experience, except joints, I still love a joint.

With vapor you're missing out on a couple of cannabinoids and terpenoids with analgesic and/or sedative effects. So for pain relief, high temp vaping or smoking adds something positive for the user.

Mostly what you're missing out on with vapor are poisonous toxins:

Benzene- an industrial solvent and known carcinogen.

Naphthalene- a hydrocarbon derived from coal tar, and formerly the primary ingredient in mothballs.

Toluene- another industrial solvent, which has been abused as an inhalant, akin to sniffing glue, and can cause neurological damage when used as such.

Carbon monoxide- colorless, odorless, toxic gas commonly used as a method to commit suicide. It also kills over 1500 people per year in the US from accidental exposure.

Ammonia and hydrogen cyanide are a couple of other, obviously poisonous compounds present in smoke.

The effects of these compounds are attributed to the cannabis high, but are really just high temp and smoke byproducts. I've been happily doing without them and their effects for years, but if they're what you want or need to make your high complete, smoke away.
